Allow me to reintroduce myself

Allow me to reintroduce myself

At the start of this year, I decided I'm no longer waiting for opportunities to come to me but I'm going to step out and take them. Whether that means sliding into LinkedIn DMs to secure brand partnerships or simply being confident enough to share what I actually do with people at networking events... I'm no longer going to rest on my laurels. That being said, I've had some time to think about how I plan on approaching my personal brand this year and as such I think it's time for a little introduction. So please allow me to reintroduce myself.

My name is Paula Oyinkansola Motunrayo Macaulay. I'm proudly Nigerian, which is why I've decided to change my name on most social media platforms to Paula Oyinkan. I'm an Entrepreneur, a Marketeer and a Speaker. I'm big on self reflection and I've come to realise the importance of sharing experiences and learnings. As such, I've decided I'll be actively sharing my personal (and truthful) business journey, on Linkedin, Instagram and Medium. In the hopes of inspiring people to take the plunge and pursue their passion, whether that passion is starting a business or not.

The businesses

Rayo

Launched in 2017, Rayo is my first business. It started as a footwear company for ladies that wear a UK size 7+. In the past year, I've paused Rayo activity as I really wanted to go back to the drawing board to review the actual purpose of the brand. I'm currently conducting some market research for this brand so if you or a lady you know wear a UK size 7+ please complete and share this survey https://forms.gle/dW5kwxTZLb8D97Yp8.

My second business was launched in July 2018, with two of my good friends (Jane and Lola). #IssaMovement is a black empowerment movement that aims to change mindsets, create community and empower black people to provoke change for future generations. We share weekly content on our website and also run events that touch on topics not commonly discussed within the black community. Find out more here www.issamovement.co.uk

Freelance work

I am a Marketeer by profession so I offer freelance marketing services to startup founders that are clueless about marketing. I offer consultancy and 121 training sessions with the aim of helping startup founders clear the marketing haze they may be experiencing.

I'm available to speak on panels and at events. The topics I feel most passionate about are; marketing, social media, female empowerment, black empowerment and early stage startups.

If you'd like to find out more about my marketing services or would like to have me as a speaker at your event, email [email protected] or send me a direct message on Linkedin.

So what now?

Now you know who I am and what I do! My aim is to write regular articles to share on both Linkedin and Medium, as well as sharing my personal journey to business success. I'll share pictures from speaking gigs I secure, I'll share my feelings throughout the process of running a business and I'll potentially release some footage from a video diary I've been keeping since the start of 2019.

I hope by sharing my journey I really do help others in some way, shape or form. And as much as I hope to help others I'm also open to any advice from those who have been there and done that. Until next time...

Ciao

Paula, you are true testimony of creativity, hard work and commitment to people! Your emboldened stance on progressing the African diaspora's narrative, particularly for women entrepreneurs is refreshing and transcends the often limiting boundaries of race! Well done and keep inspiring others.
