As a recipient of this newsletter, you likely fit into one of the following categories:
Regardless of our relationship status, I'm excited to reintroduce myself and introduce my new and improved newsletter which shall be called, “The 3Cs Digest” henceforth!?
WHO IS SHE?
I'm Baily, a Connection Strategist & Professional Friend-Maker who's on a mission to teach people how to build, nurture, and leverage relationships so they can navigate challenges, thrive during transitions, and achieve greater success with the support of their community.??
I do that through the following:
?? Resources
I'm also a huge fan of being a guest on podcasts since the limit to how much I can talk about community, connection, and collaboration (AKA “The 3Cs”) does not exist.
HOW DID SHE GET HERE?
In the last decade, I've held the titles Career Happiness Strategist, Collaboration Consultant, Community Strategist, and Connection Strategist, and through it all, “Professional Friend-Maker”.?
From 2016 through 2021, I ran my own business called Baily Hancock HQ, but giving birth to two kids and pivoting non-stop during the pandemic forced me back into the land of 9 to 5 in search of stability and a steady paycheck. Fast-forward to November of last year, and that “stable” 9 to 5 laid me off and I found myself joining the “Open to Work” club.?
Lucky for me, I was aching to get back to doing my own 'thang, and thus, Overlap Collective was born.?
But here's the thing about starting your own business - it's rarely a straight shot to knowing what you want to do, who you want to do it for, and how you're going to do it. I threw A LOT of spaghetti at the walls, and only a few noodles stuck.
One of those sticky noodles was what I began referring to as, "The 3Cs to Saving Humanity" - Community, Connection, and Collaboration. I didn't quite know what I was going to do with that concept, but it wouldn't leave me alone, so I let it hang around.
Throughout the last 17 years of my very non-linear career, my through-line has always been my ability to build, nurture, and leverage relationships with people across industries, roles, and continents, regardless of my job title or the company I worked for (or ran.)?
So, when I was first laid off, I did what I always do when I don't know what to do next - I reached out to my community and sought out guidance and support. In the first four months post-layoff, I had over 150 conversations with people in my network, 75% of whom were existing relationships, and 25% were new people connected to me through a mutual friend (thank you to everyone I spoke to and who connected me to new people - you're truly incredible.)?
It was through those conversations that I realized that connection has always been my absolute superpower, while also being the thing this world seems to need the most right now.?
OKAY BUT WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THIS NEWSLETTER?
One of the first batches of pasta I threw at the walls back in early December was migrating my newsletter subscribers over to the “Seeking the Overlap” Substack. While I did this with the best of intentions, I didn't really think through what the point of it would be. That led to me sending a few newsletters, then abandoning it almost just as quickly because if there's one thing I despise, it's doing something without intention or purpose. So I focused my efforts elsewhere in my business until I had a better idea of what the value prop would be for you, dear readers.
Which brings me to the point of this now very long newsletter (you made it! ??)?

Since I'm constantly eyeballs deep in reading, writing, thinking, teaching, and talking about The 3Cs, I figured the most valuable thing I can offer my readers is a digest of the best of the best content I come across and create on those three topics. When I sat down to think about what kind of newsletter I'd be excited to write and send regularly, I knew I wanted it to be impactful, interesting, and worthy of a read.?
The purpose of The 3Cs Digest is to act as a bi-weekly guide to curating community, cultivating connection, and catalyzing collaboration to unlock success in your business, career, and life.
One of the cool discoveries I made in my now 250+ conversations since December is that most people can offer up one or more of what I'm now calling, “The 3 Is” (wonderful things come in 3s, apparently): Information, Inspiration, and Introductions (AKA Info, Inspo, and Intros because your girl Baily loves alliteration!)?
And with that, I give you the first official 3Cs Digest!?

?? Where Everybody Knows Your Name: Hosted by Ted Danson & Woody Harrelson, the premise is that in the 30 years since they became friends, they've each gone on to build relationships with people through work that the other one doesn't know, so they each interview one of their famous friends and through the conversation, the other one gets to know them too. I especially loved the episode with Kristen Bell, because who doesn't love Kristen Bell?! (listen here)?
