allnex South Carolina Gives to Golden Harvest Food Bank
There’s nothing like the feeling you get after you’ve enjoyed a tasty meal. Perhaps it was a holiday dinner, birthday celebration, or simply a kind gesture from a friend or neighbor dropping off fixings for a mid-week dinner. Events like these are so commonplace, it’s easy to take them for granted.
However, such everyday occurrences are far from every day for many whose next meal is as elusive as a needle in a haystack. According to Feeding America, more than 37 million people in the United States struggled with hunger in 2019, including more than 11 million children. Our friends at Golden Harvest Food Bank want to change these statistics and allnex South Carolina is ready to help.
Recently, allnex, Inc., announced its Covid-19 Global Donation Fund Program, in which 35 of its global sites were given $3,000 to support a local business or non-profit of their choice. The allnex South Carolina sites, located in North Augusta and Langley, selected Golden Harvest. The announcement was met with gratitude and upon hearing the news.
“Thank you so much for your generosity and joining us to feed the hungry-especially during this critical time.†Julie Ferguson, Golden Harvest Corporate Development Officer said. ““We are so grateful that you and your employees thought of Golden Harvest Food Bank and the families we serve. In the last six weeks alone, over 49,000 families have asked for help with food and we are committed to responding to every call for help-your gift ensures we do!â€
Golden Harvest sources most of its food donations from community and corporate sponsors and the food industry, as well as state and national food networks, such as Feeding America. These donations are transformed into healthy meals for the residents of Aiken, South Carolina and August, Georgia, including families, seniors, and even college students.
Most recently, due to the mandated school closures, Golden Harvest provided lunches to students. Meals were delivered at regular bus stops to grateful families who depended on the schools to feed their children for nearly two-thirds of the year.
Golden Harvest also offers virtual food drives. With a few mouse clicks, your donations can provide a healthy and well-balanced meal to those in need. Like many food banks across the country, Golden Harvest has seen their numbers increase since the COVID-19 outbreak. Families who never before needed their services are now regular clients.
Contactless pickups as well as food deliveries have been implemented to keep everyone safe. Their staff are working around the clock to ensure no one goes to bed hungry.
I’m proud to work for an organization that is committed to giving back, especially in these challenging times. My team and I are privileged to assist Golden Harvest in their mission. Together, we can feed lives one meal at a time.
