But before I show you how, let me give you the low-down on what social media marketing is.

Social media marketing is the act of developing and distributing strategic content that is aimed at increasing the awareness of your goods and services and sharing them on social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. The developed content must have unique features that make it target-specific because only then will it increase brand awareness and increase conversions.

When we talk about social media marketing, you might not know its true potential, so let’s have a little analytical breakdown of the common social media platforms.

  • Facebook: Facebook has a whopping 2.2 billion users consisting of largely Generation X and Millennials. It is perfect for B2C marketing activity. You can use it mainly for brand awareness and advertising.
  • Twitter: Contrary to what you might think, Twitter has more users than Facebook, with around 335 billion users of the millennial demographic. It is great for B2B and B2C. You can use it for public relations and customer service activity.
  • Instagram: It has around 1 billion users consisting of Millennials. It is great for B2C. You can use it for advertising and for sharing the media-related aspect of your business.

  • YouTube: It has 1.9 billion users of category Generation Z and Millennials. Perfect for B2C and best suited for sharing videos and creating brand awareness.

Do you see enough benefits already or do you need some more convincing? Okay, here’s some more information

1.  You Can Use it for Target Marketing

With social media, it is very easy to isolate and target people who are likely to buy your product. For instance, if you create and sell FOREX systems or eBooks, you can target FOREX groups littered all over Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media platforms. You can’t make the most out of your market without reaching new customers. But you are more likely to convert if the customers you reach are people who are likely to have an interest in your product. For this reason, you must use personalized campaigns to target the people most likely to buy. By doing this, you will position yourself to leverage your search and social media to capture the lion’s share of your market.

Before you can do target marketing, you must take out time to study your buyer personas and target market. When you know your ideal buyer persona, you will know where to find them.

2.  You Can Increase Brand Awareness

With a large number of people across all the different social media platforms, you know you can give your brand the awareness it needs to grow. The truth is that people cannot but from you if they don't know you exist. How will they know you? Through social media. You can create content, campaigns, and promos to get more people to hear from you and what you can offer. When you host live videos, people get to know you. When you organize contests, people share and repost them to inform their followers, you get exposure from their shares.

3.  It Helps You Build Relationship with your Customer Base

Social media makes it possible for you to interact with your users, even when they are not on your business website. You can find out what their questions are, then you create posts that address those common questions. You can also interact with them and seek suggestions on how you can serve them better. By doing all of these, you will endear your product to their hearts and they will feel like they are part of the business. Such a feeling can make somebody a lifetime customer. And don't forget that one satisfied customer can bring several other customers to you.

4.  You Can Learn from Your Competitors

Nobody can know it all, even in business. Your competitors may know something you don't, and they may be applying systems that work. To have a balanced marketing system, you can study and emulate the business models that are working for your competitors. From their marketing tactics, their ongoing campaigns to their interaction methods.

You can also discover the things they did that didn’t work for them. You can look to modify those things or avoid them totally to avoid making the same mistakes. With a clear idea of what works, you can focus your time and energy on tested and trusted models.

However, there is a need for uniqueness, don't just be a copycat, there is always room for creativity. You can pick up general models and modify them to suit your business profile. Also, ensure that your contents are unique and fresh.

From the discussion so far, you should know by now that if you are not actively utilizing the social media platforms for your business, you are losing out big time. Don’t waste any more precious time, take the lead on social media marketing today.

With the social media landscape changing so much and so quickly, we need to keep stepping up. I wonder how many people ?with a Linked In profile even three years would have predicted the growth and change in that platform
