All you need is HELP!
A few days ago, after years of complaining about the need to clean the house time after time again, I had the pleasure (YES, there's no better word than PLEASURE to describe what I felt) of having a professional help to clean our place. It felt like magic, like freedom, taking off a load I always knew is there but didn't even imagine how happy I will be when it's taken off my shoulders...
My husband and kids couldn't really figure out what made me so excited and why am I speaking about it so much. Some of them said the house was already clean before the professional help came;-) and some just didn't get what the fuss is all about, but for me, it wasn't just these few hours of cleaning, but more than this, it was the request to hire help, my confession of not being able to juggle all balls and keep them all in the air, my desire to use my free time for a better purpose, or just for something I know how to do better:-)
I know that some of you, just like some of my family members are struggling by now to understand why I even bother writing about such a "small thing", but please bear with me as I think there's a much more important message here than this specific cleaning help.
Often in our life, and in our worklife, we're struggling with tasks and duties, trying to juggle all and be "the heroes of multitasking", convincing ourselves that it's not about the amount of hours we spend with our loved ones, or with the things we love doing but the quality of this time. However, quantity does matter too, especially when taking into account that building effective relationships, just like working on a new skillset requires time. Would you even consider saying that it doesn't matter how many hours you practice the piano or dancing or anything else and focus only on quality of practice?... guess not, right?
But how can you make more time in such a busy world? There are so many duties, tasks to be completed at work and at home and often times, at other places too, such as clubs you may be a member of, volunteering work you do and more... So much to complete and so little time... I bet many of you, just like me, end your weekend wondering how come time flew so fast, trying to plan the new week in the most effective way so you can complete all you need to accomplish. How many of you, if at all, think of which kind of help can assist you with making it happen as part of this planning process?...

"I did it my way" doesn't mean one needs to do it by him/herself. Winning, just like in sports requires lots of professional help of many kinds, according to each and every player's strengths, weaknesses, needs and desires. For some reason, many of us, just like me with this cleaning task, are trying to juggle all instead of learning that sometimes, the best solution is to ask someone to help you catch some of these balls or else, all will fall...

3 年Great. I often meet managers who are in this loop and can not even imagine getting help or delegating effectively to free up time for the really important tasks. Sometime it is as simple as getting professional cleaning help or learning to trust others to get stuff dine for you.
