All work and no play?

Do you find yourself spending more time "at work" now that you've been working from home for a few months? It's so easy to do. After all, your computer is probably on your kitchen table or somewhere painfully visible. And it's constantly reminding you of all the things you could or should be doing, isn't it?
But stop for a minute and take a hard look at your to-do list. What's on it? Money-making tasks or busywork?
If you're not doing the things that only you can do, you're cheating yourself. Think about it. What if you spent the hours you're currently wasting on busywork on actual money-making tasks or on actions that would lead to money-making tasks? How would that look?
Maybe it would look like this
Things you do
- Negotiate contracts with new clients
- Attend (virtual) networking “events”
- Engage with your referral network
- Deliver more of the work that you’re brilliant at doing
Things someone else does
- Set up interviews for your podcast guests
- Manage your CRM system
- Schedule your next email campaign
- Find high-quality information to use in your blog articles
How do you get to the place where you're doing what only you can do and not doing what you shouldn't do? You hire a virtual Executive Assistant (EA).
Don't panic. Hiring a virtual EA doesn't have to be a big, scary commitment. You can employ your EA to do a couple of tasks and see how it goes. When you're free to spend more of your time in your Brilliance Zone and less time in the Busywork Zone, you might find that not hiring an EA is more costly than hiring one.
Virtual EAs are independent contractors, which means you don't have to provide them with equipment, you don't have to give them benefits, and you use them only when you need them. And because virtual EAs are virtual, you're no longer stuck with finding the right someone with the right combination of skills in your area. Your talent-pool is now global.
So, what's stopping you?

4 年Fabulous article. You’ve stated a few pain points of leaders and then provided a solution. You kept me reading to the end !! And everyone should work in their BrillianceZone.
Thank you Joy for the perspective. This is truly something to seriously ponder.

4 年Joy, Thanks for reminding. It's a very insightful and amazing article. One must take a pause in life and think through seriously on their unfulfilled dreams. If there is anything left that they want to pursue then they should work on those.
