All We Have Is Time

All We Have Is Time

If all we have in this life is time and we are all equal, why are some people above us? Interesting to think about, right? Let’s take this back a few steps.

Let’s just say that you believe all men are created equal. They should all be given equal rights. Equal opportunity. Everything that is in the United States Constitution. Good stuff, right? That you believe in Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and that we should judge a man not based on the color of their skin, but the content of their character.

When you believe this, there is nothing in here about outcomes. Nothing about results. Nothing about time. About how long it will take to achieve. Just that you have the opportunity to pursue your dreams and goals.

Time is a great equalizer. We all have limited time. We all have the same 24 hours in a day. Now, the length of our lives varies by the choices we make. But on any given day we have the same time.

How does someone be above us? I use the above intentionally. Above in climbing the “success ladder”. Above in terms of happiness. Above in terms of better than.

Quite the contradiction. How can someone be above you if we are all equal? It’s only in your mind. You only think they are above you because you haven’t taken the time to develop the skills they have. They are above you in their mindset. Reaching a place of happiness or perceived happiness that you’d like to achieve.

When we look at those “above” us typically they are also older than we are. Maybe they’ve just been in the game longer than we have. Maybe they haven’t been in longer, but they’ve been better students and put more time into studying than we have. Maybe they spent more time on their mindset and their frame of reference is different.

Time and how we use it is the great separator. Those who can leverage their time to be the most productive will win. The easiest judge is in monetary success because there is objective measurement here. A little more subjective is happiness. How happy are you that you’re more productive and have more time for yourself?

When you’re in control and start to hire out tasks that don’t make you happy, that you aren’t good at, and can start doing the tasks that you both enjoy and are good at, you’ll reach new heights. Life will become more bountiful and fun. Happiness and productivity will go hand in hand.

It’s not overnight that these things happen, but it is a goal worth striving for. A goal worth reaching.

Don’t let time stand in your way, use it to your advantage. Because let’s be honest, what else are you going to do while you are here? Make your life matter by doing something meaningful. I’m leaning into my calling and what I love to do and I’ve never had more fun in my life.

These are all thoughts I've had before! If anyone ever questions how people are better at "X" or make more money than "X" it truly does come down to how we use our gift of time! The other part of this scenario though is the economical situations, what can time do to change situations of that nature? That's a question that I have not had answered. How can certain folks in certain parts of town (all across the United States and beyond) gain more of an advantage when their family history has not had that type of success? Where does the "time" aspect help in situations like that?
