All Systems Go!

All Systems Go!

It is amazing how quickly time passes. The past year seemed to hurtle past at a speed reminiscent of a rocket ship. There were certainly highs and lows throughout 2022. One of the high points was being in the middle of an amazing performance by the Passport revenue team and everything they did to engage, support, and bring more clients into the Passport family.?

It is remarkable to see how far this team came in a short twelve months. It is a testament to each and every person on the team as well as their ability to buy into the vision we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year.? Collectively this team accomplished amazing feats.?

  • Record sales growth
  • Grew the Passport Family by Double Digits
  • Growth in each product segment
  • Established multiple Innovation-focused client footprints
  • Fortified relationships across current client

This success reflected a collective effort across our sales, client success, channel and RevOps team members. A hallmark of this success is a constant focus on the needs of our clients and how best we can serve their needs!

The team is excited to build on this success as we head into 2023. We brought the team members together this past week for our annual Revenue Kick-off session. Leading up to this session, we have been spending time with key teams across Passport and ensuring alignment for how to define success in 2023. Our collective theme for 2023 is “All Systems Go” and we believe there is much we can accomplish on behalf of cities and our clients this year.?

As part of the theme of “All Systems Go”, we discussed the trials, tribulations, and amazing accomplishments that the United States experienced in the 1960’s as part of the race to land a human being on the moon. The human race has always aspired to reach out and touch the stars. We were on path to do so during the 20th century but it accelerated when the U.S.S.R. launched Sputnik into orbit in 1959. That singular event galvanized our nation and created a shared sense of purpose to achieve what seemed an impossibility. The United States traversed numerous set-backs, rocket explosions on the launch pad, the sacrifice of brave explorers in the pursuit of this celestial goal. The combination of grit, perseverance, and sacrifice led to the successful mission of Apollo 11 and Astronaut Neil Armstrong being the first human being to step onto the moon. His immortal words still ring through history “One small step for man, One giant leap for mankind!”

It may be strange to compare Passport’s focus on enabling innovation and change in the parking, enforcement, permitting, and payment space to that of the race to the moon. We share similar sentiments, however, for 2023 in our pursuit of excellence which are embodied by tenacity, perseverance, and willingness to sacrifice for our clients.? We recognize ourselves in the words of President Kennedy describing what motivated our country to pursue such a goal as the “audacity of ambition!”

We have audacious goals for 2023. We will add more new cities to the Passport family than ever before. We will grow and expand the services we provide to our current clients at a scale unmatched by prior years. We will launch new innovations that better help our clients engage, inspect, and manage their parking operations. We are tackling big, complex opportunities with a steadfast belief that we can bring a positive change to the cities we humbly serve.?

This success will come from the hard work of our team members. Individually and collectively they are the foundation that will make our audacious goals a reality. It is easy to have confidence in this team when we look around and see people that have “The Right Stuff” as Tom Wolfe described in his great novel depicting the race to space.?

We had the pleasure to recognize individuals who stood out in 2022 and certainly embodied the “Right Stuff.”

A special tribute is well-deserved for Catherine Dunwoodie. She led - with exceptionality, grace, and wisdom - our client success team until her untimely passing this year. Her positive imprint lives within our team, Passport , and myself for an eternity. She is a special person that we were fortunate to know and learn from for a brief amount of time.

We have much to celebrate from 2022. It was an amazing, challenging, exceptionally difficult and hard year. The Passport revenue team is blasting off into 2023 and I am beyond excited to see what we will accomplish. If we are lucky we may touch the stars this year.
