The correct answer is no.
While there may be a perception of equal support for all student-athletes, the reality often differs. Sports like football and basketball tend to receive more attention and resources compared to sports like tennis, golf, or diving. This inequality can manifest in various ways, including access to facilities, medical care, and academic support.
The emergence of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL)
opportunities has brought some changes, allowing athletes to benefit financially from their personal brands. However, these benefits may not be distributed equally among all athletes, depending on factors like popularity and visibility of their sport.
Moreover, the transfer portal has given athletes more flexibility to change schools and seek better opportunities. While this can benefit some, it also highlights underlying issues such as the lack of support and resources at certain institutions.
The athletic training labor crisis adds another layer of concern. Without adequate support staff, including athletic trainers and medical professionals, athletes may face challenges in maintaining their health and well-being, potentially leading to long-term consequences.
Overall, while collegiate athletics offer valuable opportunities, there are systemic issues that need to be addressed to ensure all student-athletes receive equitable support and care.

10 个月Can you support evenly while still recognizing the injury risk of the sport? I think a standard of care and access to resources can be uniform while using common sense in coverage strategies. It isn’t necessary to follow a golfer in a golf cart for an 18 hole round.

10 个月Simple answer is no unless institutions run 1 AT per sport offered.

10 个月Adam, I don't quite understand how you can intelligently discuss equal sports opportunities for student athletes without mentioning the every day denial of ADA mandated equal opportunities for student athletes with disabilities. So, maybe you could mention chairbasketball.com/news in some future discussions.
