It all started at Glasstec 2012
When we presented our new laser glass cutting technology at the glasstec in Düsseldorf in 2012, we didn't even dream about all the changes it would bring to us and the industry.
We didn't expect that the leading producer of technical glass would like our solution so much, that they would buy the whole company (which is exactly what happened after Corning managers discovered our booth at the show in 2012).
We honestly also did not expect that different glass compositions would behave so differently. But with the expertise of our colleagues we tackled one composition after the other. Moved from 1mm thickness to 3mm. Then to 0.1mm and less. And on to 6mm and more. From Gen 4.5 substrates to Gen 6 and Gen 8. And to 500mm x 500mm panels and 12" wafers. From Gorilla glass to sodalime and EXG. From refractive index 1.6 to 1.8, 1.9 and 2.0. From bare glass to coated glass. From single pane to stacks. From outer contours to inner contours. From small holes to very small holes (TGV). From 90% yield to 98.5%. From small cutting streets and heat affected zones to even smaller ones. From 2D substrates to 3D substrates. From R&D tools to customized high volume solutions. From trial and error to highly sophisticated designed experiments. From an applications lab to a job shop for contract manufacturing of hundreds, thousand and sometimes millions of parts.
What an incredible journey! And it goes on as our customers discover more and more applications for this incredible technology.
