When it comes to your skin – your largest organ, please remember that everything you apply to your skin, will enter your bloodstream, settle in your organs, including your brain. So, if you continuously apply toxic, chemical-laden skincare products onto your skin, in addition to eating toxic agents in foods (and don’t believe that Whole Foods’ organic product are totally toxin-free – they are NOT!) then inevitably you are putting a lot of stress on your body’s natural defense system - your complex network of organs, cells and proteins that defend your body against invading microbes and toxic chemicals, whilst protecting your body's own cells.
Some of us can handle foreign, destructive invaders better than others! This may by hereditary or some of us simply do things better overall when it comes to taking care of our temple.
When you buy skincare products at Macy’s, Bloomingdales’, Nordstrom, Sephora, ULTA, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue or wherever else you may purchase your skin care, DO NOT FALL for big brand names or fancy, luxurious packaging!
If you follow my writings on various social media, I have demonstrated to you before that most industrially-manufactured personal care products are made by the same factories – regardless of BRAND NAME, and toxic chemicals (byproducts) are cheap – really cheap to infuse into those products. It’s all about marketing and suggesting to you – the consumer, that you cannot be without a certain product, as the rest of the ‘affluent’ world has it, swears by it, the typical ‘I’ve-got-what-you-don’t-have-syndrome’; it becomes a status symbol in your economic background and nobody is questioning if it is really good – does it really work, is it worth it?!
Status symbols, also called cultural capital, by sociologists, are the unidimensionality or perceived social standing (prestige), but not actual wealth in capitalistic societies. Status symbols are prevalent in all economic backgrounds. For some it’s the Kia for others the Mercedes, Bentley, Bugatti, an airplane and so on.
There are super-successful brands out there that make leather bags, clothing, and skincare products - and their marketing is so powerful that if you don’t own their product (even if it is a fake!), you feel less worth.
As I do not manufacture leather bags or clothing, I will only speak to skincare products.
Do not fall for BIG BRANDS’ skincare products – or even worse, celebrities who are successful in the arts and now turn to selling skincare products as well, because their celebrity status has a pulling and makes them and their manufacturing partners additional millions of dollars. Nothing against making money, I am a capitalist, too – I just know that high-quality skincare products are ‘rare in a million’. ?
