All roads may lead to Rome but ours starts in Bethlehem.
Tradesmen and Craftsmen Shops of Bethlehem by Design/Build Productions for the upcoming special, Why the Nativity?

All roads may lead to Rome but ours starts in Bethlehem.

Main Street 33B.C.

Towns and villages throughout time, have always centered on their main thoroughfares, sometimes called high streets or main streets. These roads have always been fronted with the facades of various tradesmen and their crafts, places of lodging, food, and sometimes other "diversions".

Design/Build has created on the north side of our main street Bethlehem a collection of businesses that would have likely existed in the first century. We find a leather goods shop, a potter, and his wares, also a busy metalsmith. Further down the street are found a rug merchant, the synagogue, residences, and an inn for lodging (if they are filled up, we understand there might be some primitive lodging out in the stables).

Continue to look for our next update as we recreate 1st century Judea in rural San Diego for the upcoming Christmas special,?Why the Nativity, to be aired in December on the History Channel.
