4th Edition: All Resources You Need for Making Your CV
I was going through many posts providing a plethora of resources, I am sure you must have seen similar content providing hundreds of CV formats, several websites where you can make a CV, list of hundreds of action verbs. List of common keywords to be used etc.
While at first glance this looks like a very good resource for our CV-making journey, hardly we end up using it simply because of information overload and complexity.
In this newsletter let's explore simple processes and tools to draft your CV on your own.
Section 1: Deciding on CV format.
The format should be as simple as possible, only highlighting things you want the interviewer to notice. Remember it is the content that is important not the format. many recruiters dislike the flashy format, more importantly, the Application tracking system works best with simple formats. Below is an example of a standard CV format which most recruiters are used to and can decipher information quickly in a short attention span available to them
Section 2: Content
Content includes three main components
With the advent of AI, you do not need lengthy lists of keywords and action verbs to refer to while drafting a CV.
Simply paste your content in Chatgpt and let AI work the magic.
below are some of the prompts you can give Chatgpt to give you best suitable points to be included in your CV
paste your draft points in Chatgpt and give the below prompts
"Redraft the above-mentioned points to highlight quantifiable achievements"
"Rewrite the above-mentioned points using more effective action verbs"
领英推荐
"Rewrite above mentioned points incorporating keywords"
Even identifying important keywords is also easy with ChatGPT.
Copy relevant Job descriptions from LinkedIn/Naukri postings, give them to Chatgpt and ask it to identify keywords.
Make sure you incorporate relevant keywords in your CV to get the CV featured in the recruiter's search.
Section 3: Once your CV is ready, get it reviewed a couple of times by your mentors/seniors/friends, etc. It is important to get it critically reviewed and incorporate changes. The more time you spend on your CV, the more you will be comfortable in an Interview as you will know every inch of your CV.
resumeworded.com has a pretty good tool to get your CV reviewed Free of cost.
Section 4: While a CV plays an important role in landing you an interview, it also plays a very critical role in how your interview goes. Once you have your CV finalized, prepare mock interviews, and questions based on the content mentioned in your CV. Be prepared for every cross question that can arise from the achievements, and experience mentioned in the CV.
In Conclusion, You don't need multiple templates, or websites to get your CV ready. Make sure to spend enough time on it. Use the power of AI at your disposal and you are ready to go.
