All Racks Are Not Created As Equals
From a glance racks can all look the same, but choosing the right rack for your equipment is the stepping stone for future proofing your IT/Server room.
We have had years customer feedback and addressed IT market trends for high-density server and networking applications. With a strong focus on cooling, power distribution, cable management and environmental monitoring, our ION High flow series provides a reliable rack mounting environment for mission-critical equipment.
A few small questions should be asked:
What type of equipment will be going in my rack? If you are using the rack for server equipment one of our 600mm wide server cabinets will be fine as there is not a lot of cabling required but if you are using the rack mainly for switches and network products having a our wider 800mm network cabinet is essential so you can run cable management and cabling along the sides of the rack freeing up room for easy cable management and access. Yes you can still run cable management in a 600mm wide cabinet but you then have to take up RU space for the cable managers and it starts to get messy, an IT managers worst nightmare.
The other difference with our wider 800mm network cabinets is they have larger roof cabling access than the 600mm server cabinets.
How much equipment will be going in my rack? This is just so you can size up the height of your rack, we have a large range heights from 42RU, 45RU and 47RU. It is good to leave additional RU space for future expansion unless you have room to add more racks side by side. You can easily fill any blank RU space with blanking panels to create better air flow to your equipment.
Good air flow is essential for modern IT equipment so having a cheap glass door rack is not the best practice.
Our Server and Network racks come with perforated front and rear doors that provide ample ventilation. Additionally, the half-height quick release side panels reduce size and weight for easy handling and access to equipment. These side panels are lockable utilizing a single key with the doors. Our racks also have a massive 1400kg load rating so are strong and stable.
What is the deepest piece of equipment that I have? You need to take into consideration the depth of the equipment that will go into the rack as well as leaving room for access and cabling, the most common rack depths are 1000mm and 1200mm our racks all have depth adjustable 19” vertical mounting rails in 6.35 mm increments, with easy to read depth marking and "U" numbers printed on 19" rails.
Can I get the rack I want into the room? I know this sounds like a pretty straight forward question but the number of people who order their 47RU 800mm wide 1200mm deep cabinets then cant get them into the room or even into the building due to limited lift access or door width issues. But with our range they can be shipped as a flat pack and built on site if required or easily disassembled.
