All onboard! New adventures await.
I recently joined a new company, CloudSmiths . The recruitment was a happy coincidence. Around the same time we had to adopt a hybrid work model, I got a DM from Jacques Logchies on LinkedIn.
Usually I respond with a, "I am happy with were I am going career wise, but let's chat in future". With the hybrid thing and other indifferences, I felt I had to explore this opportunity.
Boy, am I glad I did. I have gained so much respect for companies that make people feel like they value. CloudSmiths are one of those companies. From the recruitment process, interviews and onboarding. Everyone you engage with seems happy to work there. They are advocates for their place of work.
Before I actually joined, they sent me the Smiths Handbook. What a brilliant document. Outlining everything you needed to know about their values, structures and operations. They start off by talking about inclusion and encouraging charity work (for which you get extra leave). I can go on and on about this, but the point is, I was able to walk in on day one without a single question. Except for "Where do I vape?", or "Where do I find the toilet?".
This takes commitment from a company. The one thing they have done in the process, was make me feel safe and confident. To know that I've found an environment I fit in...before meeting a single person.
