It is all about Mindset

It is all about Mindset

'It is all in the mind' I have heard a lot growing up. (still growing, I guess! A growth mindset is a recent discovery). Folks around me were curious about 'mind'!!

Several Sanskrit words relate to the concept of mind, including:

  • Manas: The faculty of the mind that coordinates sensory impressions before they are presented to the consciousness.
  • Dhi: Means "understanding", "reflection", "religious thought", "mind", "design", "intelligence", "opinion", "meditation", "imagination", "notion", and "intellect".
  • Chitta: is mind without memory – pure intelligence.
  • Antahkarana: Refers to the entire psychological process, including mind and emotions.
  • And many more...

I never understood its depth then or now. No wonder it was at the core of spiritual seeking.

Now I realize it was less about the "mind"—and more about the?mindset. I don't understand mindset better, but it seems more relatable!

Mindset

For leaders to succeed, everything depends on mindset. While much of its creation depends on our early childhood experiences, we still have a choice to go beyond the limiting mindset. To move from

What is Success?

Success originates from the mindset—of believing in oneself and thinking beyond limited, self-centred goals. Dismissing the myth of overnight success, it stresses perseverance amidst failures and highlights the importance of a long-term vision, much like Buddha's transformative impact on the world. The Speaking Tree Jaya Row

"Buddha could have been content with his kingdom, beautiful wife and charming son. He would have gone into oblivion. He thought beyond, and his impact on the world has been tremendous." A popular example for the Hero's Journey (Joseph Campbell).

How did he respond to his "Call to Adventure?"

Mastery of your craft

Mastery is a state of mind, but on the foundations of hard work.

True mastery in any field or skill isn't just about reaching a certain level of proficiency or success; it's a mindset. This mindset characterizes a continuous commitment to improvement, learning, and excellence. The quote also emphasizes that this mindset is built upon solid hard work and dedication. In other words, achieving mastery requires the right attitude and a sustained effort over time.

I can't agree more that it is all in the mind. There is a saying in the National Defence Academy, especially for the challenges one faces during Training. "Its All Mental". And this belief is all that it takes to overcome any and every obstacle that come our way in Life!
