The words that I have put in BOLD above in the lyrics have inspired me, many times when the chips were down and the road seemed variously:

• too winding - think those 'click backs' on Mt Ventoux
• too steep - steeper than Mt Ventoux (I've done that cycle ride twice btw)
• too long - Montelimar to the peak of Mt Ventoux is 174km - a long way in one day - I did it in July 2009

In fact that stage of the Tour de France is described as the toughest bike ride in France by @Lance Armstrong - and he had ALOTTA assistance! People talk about the drugs and the blood transfusions, but they forget he was also sleeping with @Sheryl Crow - surely that's an UNFAIR advantage right there?

So enough digression.
