Modeling's no profession
If you want instead when you're dead
Some more public and more permanent expression
Of affection
You want a painter, poet, sculptor preferably
Marble, granite, bronze
That's durable forever
Photojournalists have to get things in focus. That’s not such a big deal in these days of Continuous Autofocus, Eye and Face detection and such. But try it running through the Okefenokee Swamp after the 1/75th Ranger Battalion with a Pentax MX loaded with Tri-X and a manual focus telephoto lens. Heck, Rangers are hard enough to focus on in the best of conditions; if you can focus on them with a camera, so can a bad guy with a rifle. So Rangers tend to avoid such situations.
When I got out of photojournalism and started shooting pretty much only for myself, I started dabbling on and off with the idea of an intersection between digital photography and Impressionism. I’ve played with a series I called Pointal Pixels, after?George Seurat’s work. Here’s an example. And I was playing with more general Impressionism when the bluebonnets peaked in April; you can see those in the gallery. Plus one of those Ranger photos.
