All hands on deck

It's all hands on deck here at Affirm as we navigate new ways of working during this unprecedented time. I’ve been energized and inspired by the commitment and collaboration I’ve seen from Affirmers as we double down on our core commitments to our consumers — lending responsibly and never charging late or hidden fees. During this time, I’ve also been reminded of how critical it is to have the right team assembled and am happy to share some updates on that front.   

Over the past year, and especially in the past several weeks, I’ve learned how important it is for me to have a direct connection to the organization responsible for the well-being and productivity of our people. To further enforce this, our Chief People Officer, Jude Komuves, now reports directly to me along with Michael Linford, Silvija Martincevic, Libor Michalek, and Sharda Caro.

Sharda joined us at the end of last year to be our Chief Legal Officer. Sharda brings more than 20 years of financial services leadership experience and joined us from Airbnb. At Affirm, Sharda oversees legal, compliance, government relations, and social impact. Of note, Affirm Cares, our non-profit foundation is actively working to support causes in our communities during this crisis.

In the last month, we also took steps to expand our Executive Leadership Team with the additions of Arlene Dzurnak and Katrina Holt. Arlene joined us in 2019 and is now our Chief Compliance Officer. She will be reporting to Sharda and have responsibility for compliance and enterprise risk management. Our former Chief Compliance Officer, Katrina Holt, has taken on the role of Senior Vice President of Operations, reporting to Libor. Katrina now oversees and manages the Affirm operations team, which drives organizational decisions, operational business strategies, and operational goals and priorities.

Now more than ever, we must harness the power of our people to prioritize the needs of our consumers and merchants. I’m grateful for the team we have brought together at Affirm, and am confident we will emerge from this challenging time stronger than ever.
