Not all is gold what glitters

...and not all the mud what stinks.

Case Study 1

We were told that the velvet revolution was initiated by students.

I was seventeen and it was appealing. Seeing them in Národní t?ída (the main boulevard in Prague an all-with pulling mobbish crowd approaching fearlessly the police raw in panoply, revolver, shield plus baton, seen a clash eventually, while for decades non-independent press having reported one dead student and 568 injured.

All were exasperated and had asked: is that fire from Aurora?

All were sicked and tired of decades being sicked and tired, with all change attempts squelched and hopes drowned in the marsh of propaganda.

Then the older & experienced came onto the stage, willing and daring to break into the ideological cage.

Perestroika in the full run out there in the East of us, Gorbatchev non-belligerent and rather bifarious. In the end, the intelligence and counterintelligence seemed to come to a fragile armistice deal whilst we were subsequently told, that....communism imploded.

We have marked it even before, but ....were made unable to fix.

And all of the sudden, the imminent change was on the way.

What has evolved out of that is another story. The armistice had been conditioned: no persecution of the communists. Meaning, above all, those at the country's wheel.

Morally lapidating them, oh yes, but let them stay physically unharmed.

Ooh, what a kind, naive people.

That has led to the sellout of the national property in a crazy, shady & nontransparent way.

Communists with the key to information were the luckiest and landmark people of the resistance of those 50 years of Lenin's, Marx and Engels compelling yet utopist experiment progressively dying out in poverty.

"Communism does not deprive anyone of the opportunity to appropriate social products, it only takes away the opportunity by this appropriation to enslave another's work. "

Communist Party Manifesto

It did. It deprived not only from appropriation but also from getting social products to the extent necessary to live a life of dignity.

All of sudden, all richer who owned something or had a "bad origin" were collectively guilty and must have been punished.

Communism did not save us from inequalities.

We have been told that when it arrives back to the hands of the new capitalists or the restituted - those who have lost or were forced to hand out their assets by the coerced collectivization in the 50ties - we become a second Switzerland.

Wow, where it stands now. Switzerland?

Europe's mounting hall.

We have been told, that during the velvet revolution someone died. It has radicalised the mood. Later on, it came to light that the student Martin ?míd just fell fainted. And much more later, we have discovered that Martin ?míd was a threesome personality - StB (secret police) agent Ludvík Zif?ák, an among students infiltrated Milan R??i?ka who together with another female agent participated in the shaping of the student movement - and allegedly deadly injured Martin ?míd who steered the protest crowd exactly where the clash with police was inevitable.

Similarly, as we have been told that Egyptians worshipped animal gods, nevertheless after Champollion made reading hieroglyphs possible it has been revealed that their pantheon compounded one almighty, threesome god. From the Atum-Ra, Ptah-Ra and Amun-Ra trinity a wilderness of subsequent deities - idols epitomizing various human qualities employing animals had emanated.

Wrapping up, a faction of the communist party felt where the sudden wind from the ruling East is blowing and seized the opportunity to organise a coup, willing to topple the Politburo to replace the figures to undertake moderate reforms, but without the objective to pull down the socialist system. Nevertheless, the situation went out of control once they have realised that the people's would not reckon with them anymore. That the people's will would be pro a much more radical option and eventually topple without the brutal coercive power largely ineffective political system.

The narrative of this story had moult fundamentally differently once being retold westward, or eastward of my home country.

Case Study 2

We have been told that Marián Ko?ner and Alena Zsuzsová commissioned the murder of Ján Kuciak, an investigative journalist unravelling the babel of business & political corruption.

We have been told, that the informal tone of by the Europol decrypted text Threema communication has enough gravitas to send them to jail for life.

Yet, both were acquitted by a first instance judgment, whereas the whole of Slovakia now eagerly awaits the second instance verdict thanks to the prosecutor's appeal.

From scratch, I did not believe in the omnipotence of the plaintiffs as regards holding the text messages an indubitable body of evidence before the court.

Whilst both incriminated used a strange, way morbidly looking language, the court of the first instance found it not enough morbid to prove their guilt and intent to order the murder in question. For both using a lot of metaphors while communicating their sensations, the plaintiff and the defence of the aggrieved might have thought that "50 000 and scull"?and?"50 000 splashed in the toilet"?or?" blond as..ole f...cked it up"?after the crime date would form a direct proof plus the remaining chain of the indirect proofs be enough for them to establish commissioning of premeditated and organised murder incontestably.

They weren't enough.

The witness of a penitential who allegedly mediated in between the person involved and the head of the scheme and pleaded guilty turned out not to be enough, too.

Whilst not discrediting the truthfulness of the Threema communication, the court held that it could not assign to the text communication meaning which would, implicitly or explicitly, establish the guilt.

Moreover, the court applied?in dubio pro reo.?

Whereas they are persisting doubts upon the interpretation of the text messages, they cannot be used to the detriment of the accused.

It should be noted, however, that both accused were sentenced to years in prison for liaison or direct responsibility for other criminal offences.?

Conclusion

We are life students.

While a sin became an objective category evaluated subjectively after socio-cultural setup, it is not something continually proportional to guilt. That is to be pleaded, refused, or confirmed by a judicial authority.?

To righteously correlate crime and punishment means to remedy the victim by human justice, while to remedy sin and guilt remains beyond the means of human justice.?

God's mills grind, but not always in for us a timely and comprehensive way.

We see what is real only through the veil of our own eyes.

Sometimes, it is irrelevant what is real. If the push is strong, we must keep going.

Many are ready to give out a cheap lecture, but only a few can say " I was mistaken" and fix the bug.?

The more poetic the text, the more interpretations.

The gaudier the narrative, however, the less reliable.

Not all that glitters is gold, and not all the mud can heal.?

Update:?

On June 15 2021, the Slovak Supreme Court overturned the acquittal against Marian Ko?ner and Alena Zsuzsová, and so it was returned to the Specialized Criminal Court that it will further prove. The court sentenced the shooter Tomá? Szabó to 25 years, which he can no longer appeal.

According to the verdict, Specialized Criminal Court "assessed some of the evidence contrary to elementary logic" and did not carry out others at all. The judge also criticized the court for not allowing further evidence proposed by the prosecutor's office. Kuciak family further claims non-pecuniary damage.

Veronika ?uffová-Kun?ová Fascinating. We as humans raise our voice and then find that what we over threw can be worse than what was there before. Greater good is a fascinating thing but fails to resonate with many. Good to read what you have gone through.
