There are two main versions of Flux.1 generated by Black Forest Labs :

  1. Flux.1 [pro]: This is the premium version offering top-of-the-line performance for professional use where quality and detail are paramount. It is available via API from sources like bfl.ml, replicate.com, and fal.ai.
  2. Flux.1 [dev]: This is an open-weight, guidance-distilled model for non-commercial applications. It maintains similar quality and prompt adherence capabilities as Flux.1 [pro] but is more efficient. The weights are available on HuggingFace and can be tried out on Replicate or fal.ai. It can be used for personal, scientific, and commercial purposes as described in the flux-1-dev-non-commercial-license.

What are the main differences between FLUX.1 [pro] and FLUX.1 [dev]?

Licensing and Availability

  • FLUX.1 [dev] is open-sourced with a non-commercial license, allowing researchers and developers to access and study the model weights.
  • FLUX.1 [pro] is a closed-source version only available through API, likely intended for commercial applications.

Intended Use

  • FLUX.1 [dev] is specifically designed for non-commercial use, making it ideal for research, education, and personal projects.
  • FLUX.1 [pro] is presumably optimized for commercial applications.

Performance and Quality

  • Both versions offer similar quality and prompt adherence.
  • FLUX.1 [pro] may have additional optimizations or features not present in the [dev] version.

Access and Implementation

  • FLUX.1 [dev] can be downloaded and run locally, allowing for more flexibility in implementation and experimentation.
  • FLUX.1 [pro] is only accessible through an API, which may offer easier integration for commercial applications but less flexibility for customization.

Cost

  • FLUX.1 [dev] is free for non-commercial use.
  • FLUX.1 [pro] likely involves costs associated with API usage.

The two models have comparable performance, FLUX.1 [dev] offers more accessibility and flexibility for non-commercial applications, while FLUX.1 [pro] is optimized for commercial use with a closed-source API model. The choice between them depends on the intended use case and budget.

There is also a Flux.1 [schnell] variant mentioned, which is the fastest model tailored for local development and personal use. It is openly available under an Apache 2.0 license, with weights on HuggingFace and inference code on GitHub. Flux.1 [schnell] is also available via Replicate and fal.ai. The key differences seem to be that Flux.1 [pro] is the premium commercial version,

Flux.1 [dev] is the open-weight non-commercial version, and Flux.1 [schnell] is the fastest open-source variant. All three are based on the same underlying Flux.1 model developed by Black Forest Labs.

Want to know what Flux AI can create?

Looking for high-resolution realistic photo?

Tadaaaa....

But that's not the point.

You missed out the real point here.

FLUX AI generated the last photo in just 16.14 seconds!!!

By next year this time, some developers may be able to create images of similar quality in half the time it takes TODAY!

It's MINDBLOWING to think about how rapidly AI is evolving!

These AI-generated images can be so realistic that it can be difficult to tell the difference between them and actual photos.

Okay now you tell me, "Jean, I am able to use my own pair of eyes to view, and I can tell you it is an AI-generated image."

Sure.

By year-end, when Elon Musk launches his AI platform, I am sure more people will drop their jaws to the floor.

We wait. And we SEE TOGETHER.

Maybe it's not Musk, it might be another company.

To those of you who have not seen what is the AI magic, check out this video.

If you like any of these AI-generated images and would like to know the intricate prompts I used to create them, send me a screenshot of the image and DM "R.A.I.N" for more information!

Wow, Jean! Free and open-source? That's a game changer. But how long before the hype fades? Sounds like a double-edged sword to me. Curious to see how it evolves! Alex Belov
