All Eyes on our Start-ups (June 2024)

Hi you,

The European Championship ball is also rolling successfully for our start-up KINEXON . Its ball tracking technology, in cooperation with Adidas, once again provided crucial movement data when the ball was touched by a hand in the match between Germany and Denmark.

But things are also happening in the start-up cosmos: the month was characterized by innovation and start-up spirit, as these three events showed:?

  • At the Start-up Demo Day organized by XPRENEURS Incubator and TechFounders , 30 promising high-tech start-ups from the Built Environment, AI, Future of Work, Sustainability, and Deep-Tech presented their ideas to a high-calibre audience of investors and partner companies.
  • The TUM Sustainability Day was all about a sustainable future. The highlight was the final of the "Clean Tech Innovation Sprint 2024", in which student teams developed innovative solutions for sustainable challenges in just one week. Formula 1 world champion and sustainability investor Nico Rosberg was part of the jury.
  • The entire ecosystem gathered for the TUM Entrepreneurship Day to get people excited about entrepreneurship. Technical University of Munich , TUM Venture Labs , and our start-up and talent programs participated.

You can find more news, this time focusing on start-ups, in our topics.

OCELL Monetises the Forest of Tomorrow

In times of climate change, the importance of our forests is increasingly coming to the fore. Threatened by climate change, forests are also the biggest CO2-reducing machine we have after the oceans.?

Forests support air and water purification, are considered recreational areas, and serve as cooling factors. However, for cost reasons, forestry is currently being optimized for timber production, meaning trees that could store many more years of CO2 are being removed.?

OCELL is changing this by remunerating forest owners for the entire ecosystem service the forests provide. You can read more about this?here.?

New Opportunity for Battery Solutions?

‘Precision farming’ is a current trend in the agricultural sector. Batteries are essential, but often wasteful and made from rare materials. New EU legislation demands more sustainable batteries. Webasto Group and CIRCULAR REPUBLIC are working together to address these challenges.

Thanks to our network in the multi-stakeholder battery project with partners such as SAP , 宝马 , Man Group , and others, Webasto developed new, recyclable battery solutions and was able to test them. As part of our ecosystem, they benefit from exchanging ideas with other partner companies, collaborating with relevant players, and gaining in-depth market knowledge.?
