All these days that came and went, I did not know that it was life itself.

It is easy to forget in a busy everyday life that every day that passes is a day with new experiences such as joy, sorrow, life and death and everything in between. In a hectic everyday life, it is easy for stress to take over and it affects us negatively. We live in a spirit of the times where everything must happen fast and here and now. It is not uncommon for everyday life to be filled with too many tasks and chores. When the demands and expectations in everyday life become too great, it leads to a compromise with oneself, and we "multitask" to achieve everything. As a result, we can quickly lose focus and presence to what we are doing.
It is easy to forget that the life we live at is here and now. Not tomorrow or next week. So how good are we at living here and now? Life does not wait for us, what we do not take time for today may be too late tomorrow. Life is what is happening right now, here, and now. We need to live more in the now. Rather than talking about everything we are going to do tomorrow and next week. It is fast that life passes, and the days go by without us actually being fully present in everyday life.
Living in the present means paying attention to the little things in life and finding our eternity in every single moment. It is so easy that the present is filled with fleeting thoughts of an unknown future, the future no one knows and before we know it, the present has slipped out of our hands and become a past.
The dimension of time is difficult, but the truth is that life is now. There has never been a time when our lives were not now, but tomorrow. The present is so transient and slips quickly out of our hands if we are not present, the previous sentence is already a part of the past. The future is what we often project when we think about what we are going to do this weekend instead of focusing on what we have here and now. We all need to let go of the past and not constantly wait for the future, but only to be present here and now.
It is so easy in a hectic and busy everyday life to constantly think about how good everything was before or how we want the future to be. Before we know it, the present has flown by and become a thing of the past. It is important to stop from time to time for just one poor second and think about how many times we have prevented ourselves from living in the present for fear of the future or the past. Through living in the now, we may see life more as a gift and we become more grateful for the small moments that otherwise easily just whiz past us. It is about being able to be present and aware of what is going on here and now, which helps us to more easily enjoy the little things and experience them to the fullest.

Constantly focusing on the future or the past contributes to us quickly losing focus on the present. Even though we may be bored right now, the present does not last forever. When you are bored, an hour can seem like an eternity, but tomorrow yesterday does not exist other than in the past.
Living in the present gives us the opportunity to learn from the many small moments in our daily lives. Most of us are prisoners of either the past or the future. We forget to live in the present, it is only when we can live in the present that we are able to appreciate the future and tomorrow.
What did you see when you went to or from work today?
Did you see the insignificant flower and the rotten tree stump at the roadside, did you see that the wind only shook one tree in the middle of many, did you see if the people you had on the train, bus or in the traffic were happy or sad? We often overlook them because we are disturbed by a chaotic life of thought or a too busy schedule. Concentration is a prerequisite for presence, but it can be difficult to achieve.
We all need to slow down the pace and not have a tight schedule. We need to stop and slow down a bit in everyday life. The more aware we can be of our own inner life, the better off we are. The goal is not to stop completely, but to be present with what we experience here and now.
