Welcome to Pavia University
After the first edition in 2019, the Data Management Summit returns to Pavia at the Polo Tecnologico Stefano Denicolai
Bianchi Bicycle
I will talk precisely about how we rebuilt the data needed for the transformation of the company, with the many difficulties related to the uniqueness of our new production model, some reflections on the latest trends, I can't help but talk a little bit about Cloud and Ai to conclude with the CX world, where most of the demands and need to have a data model that embraces the customer 360° and the culture/needs of the business orbits. Mauro Toso
Group Dynamic n.1
The group dynamics is the most interesting moment of the DMS, the real moment of exchange of experiences and confrontation between participants, speakers, teachers and students. Question will be: " Knowledge adds up and the attendee becomes an active part of the event. There will be different tables with a moderator and material for the Dynamics. The moderator of the dynamic will propose different arguments for discussion and a limited time for it. At the end of the dynamic, everything will be reflected in the material available to the attendees. This is a new way of networking with an argument as a response. The question of this dynamic is: “ What are the main challenges of data management in Industry 4.0 and how can companies address them? How can real-time data improve production and operational efficiency in an Industry 4.0 context? ”
ERG Speech
I will talk about the journey that has been taken in the company I am part of, which has recognized the importance of having a unified view of business data in order to gain more accurate insights and make decisions to generate value. I will explicate the benefits of a unified data model, such as reducing data redundancy, increasing operational efficiency, and being able to respond more quickly to market needs. In addition, a unified data model makes possible a deep connection between data and business needs. I will also talk about the importance of implementing robust data governance, through the definition of policies and standards, the creation of a data governance “council,” and the adoption of innovative technologies to monitor and manage data. Roberta Piagneri
Group Dynamic n.2
The group dynamics is the most interesting moment of the DMS, the real moment of exchange of experiences and confrontation between participants, speakers, teachers and students. Knowledge adds up and the attendee becomes an active part of the event. There will be different tables with a moderator and material for the Dynamics. The moderator of the dynamic will propose different arguments for discussion and a limited time for it. At the end of the dynamic, everything will be reflected in the material available to the attendees. This is a new way of networking with an argument as a response. The question of this dynamic is: “How can Generative AI be used to improve data management, such as in data modeling, process automation, or data quality optimization?”
Roundtable: Generative IA: Transforming Data Governance and Data Management
In this roundtable, participants will dive into the exciting world of generative artificial intelligence (Generative AI). We will explore how these advanced technologies are being creatively applied to transform the way governments and organizations manage, analyze and use big data. From generating valuable insights to automating complex processes, Generative AI is taking data management to new heights. A central point of discussion will be the role of Generative AI in improving government decision making. Experts will share practical use cases, demonstrating how this technology is helping governments anticipate trends, optimize resources and make informed decisions based on accurate data and deep analytics. Moderated by Sofia D'Alessandro
Fineco Speech: Data Steward: strategic role across the company
I would like to address the topic of data governance from the perspective of a data user and not a GDO. I have often come across job searches online for the position of data steward, with quite different requirements depending on the industry, company organizational model, and even the level of maturity of companies in the field. I would like to try to shed some light and assess what skills companies expect from this role, so that we can also create career paths for those who really know that data and know how to use it. Claudia Coratella

The question of this dynamic is: “ How can good metadata management support the integration of data from different sources and systems? What are the main challenges in defining and managing metadata in a complex business environment? ”

Roundtable: Strengthening governance and compliance with DORA and ESG through data lineage and metadata management
n an era where regulatory compliance and sustainable business practices have become paramount, the panel discussion titled Strengthening DORA and ESG Governance and Compliance through Data and Metadata Lineage Management at the Data Management Summit offers a deep dive into the essential role of data and metadata lineage management in enhancing governance and compliance efforts aligned with DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act) and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) standards. This interactive session brings together thought leaders, regulatory experts and data management professionals to explore innovative strategies to strengthen governance structures and ensure compliance with complex DORA and ESG requirements. The focus will be on how meticulous management of data lineage and metadata serves as a lynchpin for establishing transparency, accountability and traceability in the data ecosystem. Special attention will be given to exploring the challenges and opportunities associated with DORA and ESG compliance, with an emphasis on the crucial role of accurate data and metadata lineage management in navigating the complexities of these regulatory environments. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts, share their experiences and discuss emerging technologies and methodologies that can elevate governance and compliance practices to new heights. Mollie Speech: Preventing fraud in a fintech company: Dynamic vs. static signals
I will talk about my experience in mollie regarding anti-fraud systems. They are very challenging systems and of great business value. We often feel that we are competing with possible fraudsters, who strive to be more and more creative to evade scrutiny, making our work more and more challenging. A subject with which we never get bored. Despite this dynamism, I can say that many frauds have common traits, and I will try to give an overview of the most common traits, but I do not want to spoil anything else about my talk. Lorenzo V.
Credem - Res Speech: Data Lineage
In the context of the evolution of the Data Governance program in the Credem Group, the perspective of lineage representation, both horizontal and vertical, is becoming increasingly important. Horizontal in that it allows the data to be effectively mapped and presided over throughout its lifecycle; vertical as it allows the business plan (What is the data? What does it represent?) and the physical plan (Where is the data? What is its official source?) to be linked.
Roundtable: Data Observability: Beyond the Horizon of Data Quality in a Dynamic World
In a world where data is flowing like never before, observability becomes an essential compass for organizations seeking to understand, manage and optimize their data in a dynamic and constantly changing environment. During this roundtable, we will bring together leading experts in data science, technology and cybersecurity to explore the fundamental concept of Data Observability and its importance in today’s context. Beyond traditional data quality, observability takes us to a deeper level, where we understand not only the accuracy of data, but also its context, relevance and flow over time. We will explore how organizations can implement effective observability practices to stay on top of changes in data, detect emerging patterns, and proactively adapt to market trends and customer needs. We will discuss innovative tools and technologies that enable real-time observation of data, enabling agile, data-driven decision making. Moderated by Gigi Beltrame
Data Challenge: Challenging data brings value to the whole company: testimony of Credemassurance's Datathon 2023 winners
In our talk, we will talk about the DATATHON 2023 initiative, implemented by Credemassicurazioni, and how the opportunity to challenge and compete on data can bring great value to the company, while providing a stimulating and fun experience for all participants and bringing benefits for both the people involved and the data itself. We will outline the benefits and steps involved in this challenge-based initiative to build the best Machine Learning solution. We will also reveal the secrets to winning such a competition, discovering that collaboration and creativity are key to achieving better results even in the Data & Analytics world.
