ALL CONTENT IS BETTER THAN NO CONTENT. DON’T OVERTHINK IT

We hope your content creation journey is going well so far. We know that it can sometimes feel like a lot of pressure when it comes to posting on social media. Are there any mistakes? Do I look good? Is someone going to say something if I don’t? These are things that a lot of us worry about when we’re putting ourselves out there through pictures or videos. We want to present our best selves to the world, and that often pushes us to try and make each post the most perfect post on the internet. If you really want to know the truth though, there is NO such thing as a perfect post. When it comes to creating content, you need to look at things differently.

NOBODY CARES MORE THAN YOU

No matter how it might feel sometimes, nobody has a more detailed opinion of you than yourself. We get hung up on how we look and sound to other people in person when there’s only a small chance that those thoughts on you have even crossed their mind. On social media platforms, we’re constantly scrolling through hundreds of pictures and videos without a second glance. When was the last time you stopped to look at a person’s post to take in the way that they’re posing for a picture? Unless you're a social media influencer or working for a media company, these aren’t things that are going to affect your bottom line. Don’t let your own opinion stop you from creating the digital network that will boost your business.

ALL CONTENT IS BETTER THAN NO CONTENT.

If you’ve already started creating content, one of the worst things you can do is stop. You’ve managed to work your way into the algorithm, and platforms have started to push your page to the people who it’s targeted towards. When you’ve reached a point where you're constantly appearing on people’s feeds, that one post where there’s a typo in the caption isn’t going to matter, especially when you have new posts flooding in daily. We’re not encouraging you to recklessly post with badly written captions, but know that it’s alright to make these kinds of mistakes occasionally. You’re not going to lose business over a post that isn’t perfect. With enough time and consistency, you’ll find your posts naturally getting better over time. To do that though, you need to start posting what you can. The quality will come out of the quantity.

LET THE MARKET DECIDE WHAT THEY LIKE

When it comes to social media, everything is objective. Your least favourite post might be the reason why someone started to follow you in the first place. For that reason, the easiest way to decide on what makes for a good post or not is by letting your audience decide. See which posts gain the most traction, pulling in likes and more importantly, engagement through comments. This is why it’s so important to try out new ideas with your posts until you find the right style that works for you and the demographic you’re targeting. It’ll take time, but remember that you’re not trying to rush to a million followers. Your goal is to connect with the audience that can take advantage of your business.

DON’T OVERTHINK IT

When it comes down to it, the bottom line is to not overthink posting. Even if the picture can stay up forever, it’s still a blip on people’s radars when they’re scrolling through their feeds or timeline. This is a lesson in humility in that you are simply not as important to other people as you think you are; that's not to say, of course, that you're not important. Remember, however, nobody is looking at you with the intention of finding flaws, and on the extremely rare chance that they do point something out, use that criticism to make a better post next time. If it’s really not a change you want to make, you don’t need to. One person’s complaint isn’t going to sway the minds of everyone else liking your content. Keep the pressure off of yourself by putting it up and leaving it alone. Just have fun with it.
