All About Abstract
Mulhouse Vinny By Sam Peacock
'Abstract Art' loosely translated is the form, colour or line to create a composition whereby the subject may not exist, or at least outline a content that may be subject to a number of different entities depending upon the individual.
Up until the 19th?century the majority of art created was constructed towards a visible reality. Abstract Art is a relatively new form, birthing from Impressionism and Expressionism. Combining these trends artists began to experiment, working on mass scale, defining techniques and approaches to the canvas. Now, at this time when artists were struggling to survive financially this was an incredible feat. There was huge out cry at the time, especially from the church claiming that this new breed of artisans were none other than charlatans, playing at a business where they were un-gifted to compete. It’s difficult to imagine how people would have reacted, I suppose it may have been a similar strain to the conservative public as we know of what happened in the late 70’s when Punk Music exploded on to the scene, in the same way frustrated musicians wanted to create something different.
Fast forward to the modern world we are certainly more accepting as to what we consider art even abstract art and what it should represent for us.?In fact due to the complexities of abstract and its conceptual nature its a perfect genre or style when it comes to?wanting?something to finish the colour scheme of the room or provoke a topic of discussion with friends and family.
