Aligning stars? Better align your teams!

Growth comes from alignment. How you manage yourself, you manage your team. How you manage your team, you manage your business. This week, growth through alignment was truly on my mind (and my agenda at theCoRD ). Why we look so often at teams specifically? Because teams are mirrors and amplifiers! Say that again with me: teams are mirrors and amplifiers!

It’s not easy to get everyone aligned to common goals with shared priorities. But as anyone in the workplace knows, getting things done relies on team unity.

What is team alignment?

Simply put, synchronising your team’s goals, values, and efforts to achieve collective objectives. An aligned team understands and pursues shared goals with clear priorities, which is critical especially in distributed/remote environments where physical cues are absent.

Usually, remote work strips away the informal interactions that help align a team organically. Without the water-cooler chats and impromptu meetings, remote teams must create the right contexts to ... work together.
