Aligning My Why with My Values

Aligning My Why with My Values

As entrepreneurs, we're often told that success lies in having a clear why. We hear it all the time and don’t get me wrong, having a why is critical to keep going as a business owner. But what about aligning your own personal values with your brand's mission and vision??

Let me take you back to the early days of my entrepreneurial endeavors. My slogan was "Ideas to Life," reflecting my passion for bringing innovative ideas to life and making a tangible difference. My “why” was my family, and my family remains a core reason that I get up every day and do what I love—bringing ideas to life.

However, while these mantras served as a motivator, I soon realized there was a deeper layer to my aspirations—one centered around helping those doing good in our world prevail!?

Out of this realization emerged "ShuBu: Creating Brands with Purpose & Impact." First, ShuBu is derived from my kid’s baby nicknames (Shu Shu and Boo Boo), but beyond that, one of my values is to be part of things that make the world a better place. This is when I realized what keeps me going is helping create and amplify purpose-driven organizations making a positive difference.?

Purpose-driven heroes deserve a platform, and I knew I could help them through branding and marketing!?

Aligning my why and values with my company’s mission and vision did two crucial things: It better clarified my company’s focus on the outside world and helped define our mission of helping purpose-driven companies and organizations amplify their voices to make a positive difference in the world. It also helped me clarify ShuBu’s vision of creating world-changing brands and ultimately enabled me to enjoy this journey.?

Let me share with you two examples that exemplify our commitment to purpose-driven entrepreneurship:

1. Epilectra:

Epilectra is more than just a graphic novel—it's a groundbreaking project that aims to raise awareness about and empower individuals with disabilities. Through the eyes and hearts of a team of superheroes with different disabilities, such as epilepsy, T1 diabetes, cerebral palsy, and autism, Epilectra challenges stereotypes and celebrates diversity, showcasing superheroes who triumph over adversity.

And now the graphic novel series is almost ready to grace your bookshelves. Preorder it here! www.epilectra.com/preorder?

2. Homestyle Direct:

Homestyle Direct is on a mission to provide nutritious, delicious meals to individuals on Medicare and Medicaid. Their goal is simple yet profound: to ensure everyone can access healthy food, regardless of circumstances.

In both cases, ShuBu has played a pivotal role in helping Epilectra and Homestyle Direct get the word out about their important missions and make a real impact.?
