The Alienist released at the end of Jan on TNT. It's a period series with extraordinary sets. I was fortunate enough to be working on location operating the Motion impossible remote VR camera dolly (The Mantis) for the 360 video experience. The mantis was loaded up with a variety of cameras for this shoot from the large payload rigs like the Jaunt to the Zcam and Indiecam rigs. All camera rigs were selected depending on each cameras abilities in each given situation including; sensitivity to the available light, proximity to the subjects needed and each cameras dynamic range compared to sharpness, amongst many other considerations needed while producing 360° content. This led to a lot of last minute calibration and recalibration of the gyro system on the Mantis, usually with the rest of the crew waiting, as once the director had made the camera decisions everyone else was good to go and all eyes were on the dude with the robot.
It was great working on such massive sets with such amazing attention to detail. Top job, with a cracking team.
