Freight Market Update

Freight carriers face growing challenges worldwide. In Europe, rates from Asia have continued to decrease, albeit to levels that are much higher than they were before the Red Sea crisis. Prices from Asia to both coasts of the United States have also declined, with North American West Coast rates are now around 24% lower than their peak in February, and those to the North America East Coast have seen a 30% reduction from their late January highs. However, we expect to see significant changes as the market reacts to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in the key East Coast port city of Baltimore.

On the other hand, air freight rates from China to North America have increased weekly by 50%, and by 32% to Northern Europe. This indicates a notable rise in demand as volumes increase in the post-Lunar New Year period and shippers continue to prefer air routes due to the uncertainty of the ocean freight market.
