Freight Market Update
Due to high demand and increased congestion, ocean freight rates have continued to surge. Prices from Asia to the West Coast have climbed by nearly 20% and the East Coast by over 10% compared to the previous week. Rates from China to Europe have also seen an increase of more than 20%. Expect this trend to continue as carriers have already announced potential additional increases for mid-June and early July.
In the air freight market, rates from China to the US have increased by around 3%, while rates to Europe have dropped by approximately 12%. E-commerce and general cargo demand have softened, contributing to a general downward pressure on rates. Expect more cost-efficient offerings during the upcoming peak season as carriers expand their fleet and introduce new routes.
