Ali Gohar: A Profound Loss

Ali Gohar's passing is a significant loss. His extensive research on the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) traditions of the Afghans/Pashtuns, and his work on the pivotal role of the Hujra, mosque, and elders in youth education, are among his remarkable achievements.

A steadfast advocate of non-violence, when advised to carry a weapon, he responded, "Even if I carry a weapon, I will not be able to shoot anyone. I will die on the day destined for me. If they kill me, I will be a martyr; but if I kill, I will be a murderer."

In the cycle of violence, we have lost many great individuals, and Ali Gohar was one of them. First forced into exile, and ultimately passing away in exile, his legacy of peace and justice will be remembered.
