The algorithm of the night

Hello
I've been on a musical odyssey in the last few weeks.?After barely leaving the house for the past few years, I've managed to packing in Guys & Dolls, Hannah Waddingham, Harry Styles, the Arctic Monkeys, Pulp and (this week) Billy Joel.?And that's not even counting watching Glastonbury on the TV.
I'm not just showing off (maybe a little) but it's been good for the soul. There's nothing like listening to someone's voice bring so much joy to so many people at the same time.
If I'm to crowbar a lesson about your marketing in here, it's definitely not to worry about sounding like anyone else.?There's room on the stage for everyone.
That's not to say there aren't a few rules to make yourself get a bit more airplay though (I realise I'm stretching the analogy now).?LinkedIn is tweaking it's algorithm all the time, but below are a couple of things that seem to be working - or not. There's no point tying yourself in knots trying to game the system, you'll make yourself miserable. Say what you need to say, and don't worry too much about it. However, there's no harm in trying out a few different things and seeing what happens.
So until next time.
Enjoy
Louise

The Society of Authors Awards
I was thrilled to be invited along to the Society of Authors Awards ceremony last week. Not only was it a chance to hang out in the beautiful Southwark Cathedral, but I also got the chance to meet some fabulous authors, both established and about to publish their first novel. Here I am with Anna Ganley, COO of SOA
And also Louise Kennedy.?Louise is the author of Trespasses, probably my favourite book of this year and winner of the McKitterick Prize as well as the British Book Awards Debut Novel of the Year and shortlisted for this year's Women's Prize For Fiction.??

The Day of the Triffids
I'm not usually one for Sci-Fi, but my book club choice this month as an absolute corker.
In this classic, John Wyndham explores what would happen if 95% of the population woke up blind, and massive plants where lying in wait to kill us.??Also fascinating to read in these post-pandemic times.
Poker Face
It's a complete treat.?Columbo has been top of list of comfort viewing since I was about 12, This brand-new programme has all the feels of the 70s episodes, in that we know who did it at the start. This time, the heroine can tell when people are lying, has an air of Suzy-Quattro and has ditched the raincoat. She also travels from town to town in that Quantum Leap, Littlest Hobo, Incredible Hulk way. What's not to like!
