The Algorithm of Life

The algorithm of life is simple: you will always find what you are searching for. But here's the catch: in life, you are always searching for one of two things—positivity or negativity, yin and yang, impulses and logic, pros and cons in every decision, and every feeling—consciously or subconsciously.

Double catch: the complexity arises from the fact that what defines positive or negative differs vastly from person to person. It's rare to find someone whose perspective aligns perfectly with ours, and even when we do—perhaps a spouse or a best friend—those moments of alignment are precious but not permanent. Life, in its essence, is spent bouncing between these serendipitous moments, sometimes few and far between. Life is primarily spent navigating through our own set of beliefs, decisions, and the consequences thereof, irrespective of their nature.

You might think choosing positivity is straightforward. But ask yourself, is that always your path? Despite our best intentions, no one achieves perfection. Mistakes are made, hardships are encountered, and sometimes, we even reject the help we need.

Why is this? It's the algorithm of life, revealing that our search is biased towards what we inherently seek.

If we focus on life's negatives, that's what we'll find, driven by our beliefs shaping our actions. This concept transcends religious beliefs but is illustrated well by the avoidance of the seven deadly sins—gluttony, lust, greed, wrath, sloth, vanity, and pride. Choosing actions that counteract these vices paves the way for a life filled with gratitude, patience, kindness, humility, temperance, diligence, and peace.

While understanding the value of gratitude is easy, truly living a life that reflects it is challenging. Our focus often drifts to our lacks, grievances, and comparisons with others, fostering a desire for more. This mindset is universally acknowledged as unfulfilling and not the essence of the life anyone wishes to lead.

Choosing gratitude will lead to humility and kindness. It will lead to patience and temperance. And it will provide diligence and peace.

These concepts are not revolutionary; they echo through the teachings of the Concept of Duality, Personal Agency, Perspective, Implementation Challenges, and the Learning Process that have been explored for centuries.

It’s important to recognize, however, that this process is a journey, with ups and downs, and requires compassion towards oneself and others.

The pursuit of positivity, balanced with an understanding of life's inherent challenges, can lead to a more meaningful and fulfilling life experience.
