Algo updates in FouAnalytics
Some practitioners have noticed the dotted yellow lines in the time series charts in FouAnalytics. Those designate when algorithm changes occurred. That means I made updates to the detection algorithm. Note the 2 instances in the example chart below.
In the first case, you notice that there's no change in the colors before and after the algorithm update. But after the second vertical yellow line you notice the dark blue filled into the light blue. In this specific example, I assigned one more blue flag so what was previously less than 3 blue flags (light blue) is marked as dark blue (3 or more blue flags) after the algo update.
These algo change lines are useful so you can distinguish changes in the color due to optimization actions you took versus changes in the FouAnalytics algorithm. In the case example below, the decrease in dark red was due to sites and apps being added to the block list instead of an algorithm change. Note there is no dotted yellow line around April 16. April 16 was when the advertiser added the bad sites and apps to the block list and that significantly reduced the dark red.
In another example, you can see an advertiser optimized their campaign 5 days after they started measuring the ads with FouAnalytics in-ad tags. The dark red was cut in half from 48% to 23%. Note there was not algo change on April 26. And also note that the green bars (representing hourly quantities of impressions) also dropped significantly. When you cut off the bad sites and apps, you reduce the number of ads you buy. And that is a good thing, if you care about saving money and reducing wasted ad spend.

Finally, if your CTV dashboards look like the following, be sure to check the "source" data grid. It will tell you that as much as 80% of what you paid CTV prices for were not running on connected TVs but on crappy websites like like dmv-practice-test .com and dmv-written-test .com and mobile apps. That's not CTV and that is why it is marked as dark red in FouAnalytics CTV measurement.
