An Algo-App-SaaS for Finding the Right Job
The Future of Work will be turned upside-down, say goodbye to recruiters by 2025
We are not far away, from algorithms and machine learning programs that are able to find us the best job for our skill set, personality, career stage and cultural fit. It's really not rocket science, it's finding a gig, a mutually beneficial situation, a win-win. It's making it easier for the job seeker and cheaper for the employer.
I say take out the headhunters, army of recruiters, job agencies, career coaches and these primitive online job listings, it's really time, I'm really ready for the future of employment. I'm ready for the next generation of algorithms. Where I can work on a project I'm interested in, where people bid on my services and where I can work from home in truly what I would call the information age of work.
The way it is now, is highly dysfunctional, and I can spend months trying to find the right job for me when this could all be automated with a SaaS and an app, whereby smarter algorithms that will make a lot of HR people jobs', obsolete.
I'm sorry to point out the obvious, but that's where we are heading. In 10 years, I promise you, such a solution will exist. Take out the dumb searching, the middle man and leave it to an algo. Leave it to a solution that can get to know me, my skills, my interests and my career vision that can find employers, projects, clients. Help me automate my life, so I can be busy living.
The idea that we need all these HR people, sales people, headhunters, recruiters, well - it's really absurd and is what I refer to as the "dark ages" of employment. My granddaughter will ask me, "what was it like to try to find a job in the dark ages of job-hunting?" My answer will not be pretty, but it will illustrate how we lived in an imperfect world of cultural misfit, human error, bureaucracy, time-delays and timeouts in between jobs that will not be fathomable to the future citizen.
In the next age of Employment, it's the Algorithm and a SaaS that is the functional Leader, not a human being that holds our fate in their hands...
I apologize to all the scores of HR people, Sales people, headhunters, recruiters and such on here on LinkedIn, but your days are numbered. SaaS and apps will really make you less part of the process, you might help administer the system, but your job will be fundamentally different. Job seekers everywhere, especially young people, must deal with a very competitive and disorganized and down-right exploitative system.
So I say to all the wonderful recruiters, who run to make a bonus. I hope you are okay with that, I hope you are planning for the inevitable? Algorithms will transform HR, the talent economy, industrial psychology and job hunting as we now know it, and increase well-being with their ability to help an individual find employment of various kinds, whether it be a typical 9 to 5 job or to work around a lifestyle of taking care of elderly parents and children in a real world where more and more we will be working from home, have our own startup and be entrepreneurs, offering our own services on a contractual basis.
The future of automated job-hunting, that's somewhere I want to be. As dumb as algorithms are now, the next decade is basically the decade of the algorithm and when a true predictive analytics emerges and hits industries, it will change the game forever.

9 年We have a "Musical Chairs Game" job market. I wrote about this. We went from full time employment for 30 years and retirement, to full time employment for 3-5 years, to contracting, to "on demand".... At this rate, we will become day laborers asking "will we eat today?"
I so hope you are right!
