Describe the value of being a P.E. in a business development role.

I want to establish long-term clients, so I take a consultant’s approach to business development. I became an engineer so that I could develop critical and analytical thinking skills, and my intention is to add value when working with a client. “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care” – Theodore Roosevelt

Why the construction industry?

I love what I do because it really affects people’s lives. The water we drink, the buildings we construct, and the communities we work and live in, as well as the parks we play in – all are influenced by our industry. While the work we do is mostly behind the scenes, we take great pride in each project, and the impact it has within the cities and communities in which we live and work.

In advising younger women, what would you recommend they consider for a career in the AEC industry?

Do not let a stereotype deter you or define you. Be authentic, be confident in your abilities, and be a trailblazer. You can participate in golf or sporting clay tournaments and still wear heels to the office.

What is your passion?

College football! Specifically, the Ohio State Buckeyes! During football season, Saturday’s are dedicated to watching all day, especially games that affect my team (and, of course, the Aggies).
