No, I'm not crazy.
And I can't talk with spirits.
I've researched some of Alexander's accomplishments and there are a few lessons we can take from him and apply to building an audience.
Don't believe me?
Check out these 5 lessons:
1. Build a group identity.
Alexander used the simple language of his soldiers and had a hypnotic influence on all who heard him.
Lesson: Show your audience you are one of them.
Use their language.
Have inside jokes.
Listen to them.
Give them what they want.
2. Support your followers.
He used to encourage his people for their excellence in battle in ways that brought out greater excellence.
He was also an empathic listener.
Lesson: Encourage your audience to become better, recognize their successes, and help them every time you can.
Make them feel special and cared for.
3. Find a common enemy.
For Alexander the Great and his Greek army, it was the Persians.
Having this common enemy made his army feel united.
Lesson: Find a common enemy.
It can be a concept or a trend.
When you see accounts posting about:
“College is a scam”
“Working 9-5 sucks”
领英推荐
“Tik Tok will melt your brain”
They are creating this common enemy.
Everyone who thinks the same will support them.
4. Fight on the front line.
Alexander always fought alongside his troops, unlike most leaders of his time.
He even led the charge on many occasions
Lesson: Build in public.
Share wins losses, failures, and lessons.
Show them you are actually doing the things you talk about.
If you share fitness content you can “lead the charge” by showing your progress at the gym, what you eat, how you fail sometimes, etc.
5. Share your gains.
Alexander was sure to always respect the honor of his loyal followers.
He was extremely generous with the wealth and political power his army accumulated.
Lesson: Give back.
Do giveaways.
Provide value for free.
