Imagine you’re running a small business, maybe a gym or a local real estate office. You’ve got skills, you’ve got drive, but the constant hustle for new clients has you worn thin. Now, here comes Alex Thoric —no fluff, no gimmicks—showing you how to build something more dependable than the typical feast-or-famine cycle. Alex, the co-founder of Building Income On Demand , has built a framework specifically to help local, service-based entrepreneurs consistently bring in business without losing their sanity. We dug into his method, his background, and why he thinks sticking to a few essentials is the key to growing long-term income.
Alex’s journey started in marketing, and not the ‘follow the textbook’ kind. Like a lot of us, he got a dose of “real-world education” when he decided that chasing people down in network marketing wasn’t for him. He wanted a way to bring people to him. “I was tired of running after people with presentations, I wanted people coming to me.” So he dove into digital funnels and online courses, eventually building an agency to help other businesses make their marketing efforts stick. Today, Alex’s approach is all about keeping things focused and manageable—no need for bells and whistles.
1. Pick One Platform and Go All-In
This one got me nodding immediately. There’s a huge push right now for business owners to be everywhere—posting daily on Instagram, running ads on Facebook, engaging on LinkedIn. But Alex suggests dialing it back. “If you’re doing this solo, trying to be everywhere is just setting yourself up to burn out.” His advice? Pick a single social media platform where your audience actually hangs out and master it. For instance, if your clients are in the B2B space, LinkedIn might be the best bet.
And it’s a relief, really—being great at one thing instead of trying to juggle five platforms at once. As Alex said, “Eighty percent of B2B sales are done on LinkedIn. So if you’re there, make it count.”
2. Lead with Value—Show People Why They Should Care
Now, we’ve all seen those ads that go straight for the sale, but Alex’s approach takes a step back. “The goal is to build trust before you ever pitch anything.” To do this, he uses short-form videos that offer real, practical advice—no strings attached. This content isn’t about closing deals; it’s about giving the audience something useful that they can remember. And, yes, it’s working.
He shared how he uses $5 daily ad spends on Meta (formerly Facebook) to push out these value-first clips. For the price of a coffee, he’s putting useful insights in front of people, building familiarity and trust. “People remember the ones who help them out without expecting anything in return,” Alex said, and he’s spot on. It’s all about making people see you as someone they can rely on, not just someone trying to make a buck.
3. Break Your Goals Down to What You Can Actually Handle
Most of us set goals like “I need 100 new clients by the end of the year,” and then wonder why we feel overwhelmed by February. Alex’s approach is simpler and, honestly, way more practical. He doesn’t just ask clients where they want to be in a year—he helps them map out the steps to get there, breaking down the big picture into daily tasks.
“People give up on their New Year’s goals by February because they don’t have a realistic plan,” he laughed. And he’s right. I’ve been there. Those big, vague goals can feel impossible if you don’t have them mapped out step by step. And for service-based business owners, the clearer the path, the easier it is to keep moving.
4. Keep in Front of Your Audience with Retargeting
Once you’ve put valuable content out there, the key is to stay in front of those people, reminding them you’re around. Alex explained it with a stat that hit me hard: “Google did a study, and it showed that people need seven hours of content and 11 touchpoints across four different channels to go from stranger to customer.”
That’s a lot of interaction! To make it happen, Alex uses retargeting ads, putting content in front of people who have already engaged with it. It’s like a gentle nudge saying, “Hey, remember me?” “People buy from those they know and trust,” Alex pointed out. Retargeting doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive; it just has to be consistent.
5. Play to Your Strengths and Outsource the Rest
The last piece of Alex’s strategy is all about knowing where you shine and finding help where you don’t. “If you’re bad at face-to-face, let the ad do the work. If you’re great in person, get people in the room with you.” It’s that simple.
He’s used this approach in his own agency, focusing narrowly on helping local service businesses. He’s not trying to offer everything to everyone; he’s playing to his strengths, which has allowed him to stand out in a sea of agencies. It’s the same advice he gives to clients: focus on what you’re good at, and don’t waste time on what you’re not. You’ll go further by honing in on a few core strengths.
Wrapping It Up
This conversation with Alex wasn’t about the latest shiny marketing tactic; it was about doing things right—things that work. There’s no pretending you can just sit back and watch the leads roll in. Alex’s method is straightforward and grounded in experience, and it works because it doesn’t promise instant results; it promises real ones.
