Alex Howard's Strategic Trademarking Journey and the Role of Jamieson Law in Protecting his Growing Business

Alex Howard, an accomplished author, therapist, and entrepreneur, has dedicated his life to creating a better world. With a diverse range of accomplishments under his belt, including publishing books, founding a renowned integrative medicine clinic, and spearheading innovative online platforms, Alex's passion for holistic well-being shines through. Lauren McGeady, Jamieson Law's Client Comms and HR Manager explores how Alex Howard partnered with The Legal Team at JL to protect his business through trademark registration. His journey highlights the importance of protecting your intellectual property in order to sustain long-term success.

Alex Howard is the founder and leader of The Optimum Health Clinic (OHC), a world-renowned integrative medicine clinic. Their groundbreaking research has been published in respected journals like the British Medical Journal Open, Medical Hypotheses, and Psychology and Health.

Alex is also a highly experienced psychology practitioner with over 10,000 consultations under his belt. In March 2020, Alex embarked on an exciting project, sharing his therapeutic work with real-life patients through a YouTube series named "In Therapy with Alex Howard".

Alex was also involved in organising two of the largest online conferences in health and mind-body, attracting over 260,000 attendees for both events combined.

Recognising the value of his brand and the need to protect it, Alex embarked on the journey of trademark registration with the guidance and support of Jamieson Law. Our collaboration aimed to protect his business name and intellectual property, enabling him to continue making a positive impact in the business world. Alex explained ‘’We have invested significantly in growing awareness of our brand and products, and it felt important to protect the long-term value of these.?We have also had instances of people copying our work and wanted additional protections against this’’. ?

The decision to pursue his trademark registration showed Alex's dedication to protecting the long-term value of his brand, and guarding against unauthorised use by others. ‘’It has become significantly important.?For example, our Therapeutic Coaching trademark; we expect to have meaningful value in the future as there is a rising tide of the convergence of therapy and coaching’’, said Alex.

After Jamieson Law successfully registered ‘RESET PROGRAM’ for Alex, it has solidified his credibility and enhanced brand recognition. ‘’Having a TM demonstrates that we are ’serious‘ business and are likely to enforce our position. People definitely take our business more seriously’’.

Reflecting on his experience, Alex shared his advice for fellow entrepreneurs considering trademark registration: "If you are certain about the long-term positioning of your product, it is important to have protection around it.?The temptation might be to wait until you are more established, but you then risk spending time and money establishing something which you can’t protect!’’

By securing his trademark, Alex has protected the long-term value of his brand, prevented copycats, and gained a competitive edge in the market. This demonstrates how vital trademark registration is for businesses aiming for lasting growth?and?success.
