Alethia; an attempt to make sense of how things appear in my role as a learning coach. (part 1)

I learned that focus and an open mindset are essential to be effective in my role; as a leadership coach. When I facilitate a leadership workshop or work with leaders, I choose to be fully present and attentive to their needs and learning styles. That requires focus and a clear mind, so I can listen and respond appropriately.

Why? An open mindset is crucial for me as a leadership facilitator because it allows me to be receptive to new ideas, perspectives, and feedback from my participants. One of the most essential roles of a facilitator is to create an environment where participants feel comfortable expressing their opinions and sharing their experiences. By keeping an open mind, I aim to create a safe space for participants to learn and grow.

I also firmly believe that as a leadership facilitator, it is my responsibility to encourage participants to develop a habit of reflection. Reflection is a powerful tool that enhances metacognition and enables individuals to learn from their experiences and mistakes, leading to personal and professional growth.

I often incorporate reflective exercises and discussions to help participants develop this habit. By asking open-ended questions and encouraging participants to share their thoughts and emotions, I can help them reflect on their actions and learn from them.

Reflecting is a vital skill for leaders to develop in themselves, as well as in their teams. It allows individuals to take a step back from the day-to-day tasks and gain a broader understanding of the bigger picture. Leaders who prioritize reflection can make more informed decisions, identify areas for improvement, and ultimately achieve greater success in their roles.

In conclusion, my philosophy as a leadership facilitator emphasizes the importance of focus, an open mindset, and reflection. By prioritizing these values, I strive to create an environment in which participants can learn and grow and leaders can enhance their metacognitive abilities.

?And how do I reflect and re-energise?

After a day of interacting with global leaders, I need to refuel to maintain focus and an open mindset. I have found that nature is an essential tool for me. Being outdoors and surrounded by natural beauty helps to clear my mind and allows me to refocus on my purpose as a facilitator and coach. Moreover, observing and learning from the patterns and systems of the natural world is a source of inspiration and insight that I can bring back to my work.

In summary, I believe, as a leadership coach, prioritizing focus and a growth mindset are essential for creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. Coupled with the restorative power of nature, I have developed a personal philosophy that helps me to be the best self in my work.?

It is a daily journey to learn and grow for us all.
