We already know what is Internet of Things (IoT) from devices like smart phone, smart TVs, smartwatches, smart thermostats and even smart homes so on. The IoT application refers to the intelligent, connected devices and objects that can gather and transmit data. Also In the future, anything that can be connected, will be doing the same job. Not just in terms of devices and products – although that is obviously a key consideration for businesses – but also the spaces in which we live and work. From smart, connected factories, offices, homes to entire smart cities, the spaces around us will be increasingly be equipped with the ability to monitor what’s going on and act accordingly.

Device

An IoT is a processing unit that is capable of connecting to the internet and exchanging data with the cloud. IoT devices are termed as "smart devices" or "connected devices." They communicate two types of data – the “State” and the “Telemetry”. The Device state data is an unidirectional data that sends the state of the devices to the cloud. Whereas the event captured by the device and transactional data is sent to the cloud and it is bi-directional. An user defined device configured data is sent from cloud-to-device (unidirectional). The “cloud IoT core” is the device registry where configuration, access, device status etc is monitored by the Device Manager.

A Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) a standardized open messaging protocol is used to transmit the telemetry information in low bandwidth environment.
