Alberta's a mess and it's our fault

I have two younger friends (husband and wife) in the hospital right now who are exceptionally sick with covid. I also have many friends who have lost jobs and are struggling to get by. I have lost my business and many others are hanging by a thread.

That said, I have had a unique opportunity to see firsthand the health effects of those suffering and quickly realized that these health measures are one of the necessary evils on this slow path out of hell.

It is exceptionally embarrassing to be living in a province with so many self-serving, self-entitled residents and politicians who consistently speak miss information and hate. Government members who should be working for the better good yet more concerned with their own popularity and self-promotion.

I wanted to be an MLA years ago because I believed it was a noble calling, a riotous effort to stand for my local constituents, province and country but with the harm done by former members and current ones, radical influences from the left and right nobility has left the building. MLA’s should not merely be spokespersons for their party but actively represent the beliefs and values of their constituent’s majority. There is the rub with that statement however, a consistent message from government must be delivered and sustained once a collaborative direction is decided and backed by industry experts (such as health) who have no possible gain from any outcome.

We as a population need to do much better in voting for ethical and moral representatives and leaders who can represent and educate their constituents with a high level of confidence and nobility. On the flip side the population needs to put their faith and support behind these representatives when difficult decisions need to be made. Those that seed hate, miss information and manipulation partnered with those that profit from the proceeds be it monetary or self-promotion must face a reckoning.

Simply put, we should all generally know what is right and wrong. We may have different opinions and beliefs but respect the greater will and good of the people.

A family of 6 goes on a long road trip. Mom and Dad are up front. 4 kiddos ride in the back seats. Over the course of the trip, the kiddos do normal natural kiddo stuff and start making some noise or getting impatient and chatty. Every time the kiddos start making a racket, Dad reaches over and beats the everlovin' piss out of Mom. One of the kiddos says "Hey fellow kiddos, we need to stay absolutely quiet and still, otherwise Dad is gonna continue giving Mom bruises and black eyes". Unfortunately a portion of the population has either sided with Daddio, or blames their fellow kiddos who are doing nothing wrong, when it's really Daddio that should stop being such a deadbeat POS. They've misattributed both causation and responsibility in this analogy. For those who have a tough time following along: Dad: Government Mom: The State/Country/Businesses Kiddos: Citizenry A better title would have been "Alberta is a mess, and it's our fault for not banding together to keep the government from being a bunch of pricks"
