Alberta Immigration Update: Recent Draws Under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program
On March 6, 2025, Alberta announced the results of recent immigration draws conducted through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). A series of draws occurred between February 7 and March 5, targeting skilled professionals across various sectors to bolster the province's economic growth.
The AAIP encompasses several pathways, including the Alberta Express Entry Stream, Alberta Opportunity Stream, Dedicated Health Care Pathway, and a pathway specifically for law enforcement professionals. These pathways are designed to attract talent that meets Alberta’s labor market needs, providing a streamlined process for eligible candidates.
Recent Draw Highlights
On February 7, Alberta invited 20 candidates working in the agriculture sector through the Alberta Express Entry Stream—Priority Sectors stream. This was followed by two draws on February 12 and 14, where the province invited 63 tech professionals and 88 construction workers via the Alberta Express Entry Stream—Accelerated Tech Pathway and Alberta Opportunity Stream, respectively.
Additionally, from February 18 to 28, the AAIP conducted multiple draws under the Dedicated Health Care Pathway, inviting a total of 72 candidates. This pathway offers two intake options: one aligned with Express Entry (enhanced) and another not (non-Express Entry). The latter option is available for candidates who may not qualify for the Alberta Express Entry stream but meet all other eligibility requirements for the Dedicated Health Care Pathway.
On March 5, the latest draw invited four candidates through the Alberta Express Entry Stream—Law Enforcement Pathway, further emphasizing the province's commitment to enhancing public safety through skilled immigration.
Year-to-Date Overview
So far in 2025, Alberta has invited 555 candidates across all AAIP streams. This diverse approach to immigration helps fill labor shortages in critical sectors and contributes to the province's social fabric by welcoming skilled individuals and their families.
Alberta's immigration strategy reflects a proactive effort to attract and retain talent in essential industries, fostering economic resilience and growth. With ongoing draws planned throughout the year, the AAIP continues to serve as a vital channel for professionals looking to build a future in Alberta.
These developments signify Alberta's dedication to maintaining a robust, skilled workforce that meets the province's diverse needs, creating opportunities for newcomers and existing residents. As Alberta continues to evolve, the AAIP remains integral to its economic strategy, ensuring a bright future for all.
