What is a Campaign Portal?

In the range of Alaris Labs software products, this one is basically an enterprise messaging solution that is used to create, launch and manage messaging campaigns.?

A campaign is a bulk send-out of messages via different messaging channels like SMS, Viber, WhatsApp, Telegram and more.?

It is used first of all by businesses to promote their services and products, it is also used by governmental authorities for informational purposes, for instance in cases of emergency, bad weather conditions or to inform people about important events.

Such campaigns can also be launched to get information from people when you receive an SMS asking you to rate a service of some online store or a restaurant.

This solution is intended for various kinds of enterprises: from small local businesses to huge international corporations with multi-million advertising budgets where messaging is just one advertising channel.

Why develop a new Campaign Portal?

In order to address these communication needs, in 2014 Alaris Labs developed our first Campaign Portal - a simple and reliable tool for launching such SMS campaigns.?

So the company that purchases the Alaris Campaign Portal gets the possibility to connect various enterprises and businesses and give them the possibility to create and send their advertising campaigns.

But we all know that everything in this world needs to advance and develop in order to stay competitive, so does our portal. So today we would like to present the launch of the new iteration of the product - Alaris Campaign Portal 2.0.

And when we say ‘iteration’ we don’t mean just a new version of the same product.

The new CP has certain capabilities and features that allow us to say that it’s a whole new product and not just the same solution reworked.

What are the main changes in the Campaign Portal 2.0?

In short, there are several major improvements of functionality and usability:

  1. The ability to work with different wholesale platforms
  2. Reselling capabilities
  3. Improved Sender ID management
  4. Enhanced payment management
  5. Enhanced rate management
  6. Reworked dashboards

Working with different platforms

If you are new to the SMS business, and wish to deal only with retail traffic you do not have to own a wholesale platform.

Campaign portal 2.0 is the only tool you will need and you can connect it to a terminating endpoint – an aggregator platform or a wholesale switch of your partner that will physically handle the campaigns created and launched on your CP 2.0.

The system owner will be able to create as many such endpoints as they need and when a campaign is launched from the portal, it will automatically determine which endpoint to use based on the message MCCMNC and the vendor cost.

Reselling

You can launch campaigns and at the same time you can resell access to the platform to your clients. And your clients will also be able to do the same thing - they will either create campaigns or resell this possibility to other businesses.

Campaign Portal 2.0 supports many of such reselling levels or layers, but in reality we will be dealing with a maximum of 3 or 4 of them. Every level of reselling can be white-labeled, so your clients will see your own brand name or logo or company colors, etc. and at a lower level their clients will see different logos and color schemes.

Sender ID management

It will be possible to request and view legal proof confirming that a partner has the right to use this or that name as Sender ID – like organizational documents, a company Charter or some incorporating documents.??

The system owner will also view the Sender ID statuses, Sender ID owners, expiration dates and other data pertaining to all the SIDs and SID requests.

Rate management

The Campaign Portal 2.0 will offer you a more flexible billing mechanism. There are 3 ways of how the system owners and resellers can bill their clients and resellers. We call them 3 types of subscriptions: message packs, rate plans and reselling plans.

Payment management

You can add multiple payment gateways so that the clients could use them to top up their balance. Or, it is possible to create payments on the system that will influence the client’s balance if the client paid with a bank transfer.

Campaign management

We reduced the number of steps to launch a campaign. The campaign wizard allows you to send a campaign in just three steps:

  1. Select the sender ID, channel and add a message text
  2. Add a contact list with subscriber phone numbers?
  3. Send or schedule a campaign

Fallback mechanism

Currently the Portal has a full support of two messaging channels, SMS and Viber with plans to add more options to this list.

The fallback feature is in place - if the campaign messages can not reach the subscriber via Viber for a predefined period of time, the platform will try to deliver them over the next channel, SMS.

What are your plans for the future?

One of the first things we are going to do in the nearest future is the URL shortener. Sometimes in an SMS you get a link which can be extremely long and include many characters. The number of characters is critical in this business, – if your message exceeds 160 characters, suddenly it’s two messages and you get charged double. So to prevent this from happening , the URL shortener will shorten the URL that is sent in a message and save you guys some money.

We're working on the ability to pre-moderate campaigns. It's important since today the businesses are facing all kinds of fraud activities including spam.

We already took the first step in this direction and introduced the Sender ID approval mechanism. With this mechanism in place you can’t just pick any Sender ID you want and start sending messages to the whole world.
