Greetings, fellow cyber people, and welcome to the eighteenth issue of wannaCYbeR (security,) a weekly newsletter dedicated to those who are starting their journey in cybersecurity. This week has been very full and exciting for me. Over the weekend, I worked on a little virtual home to collect my projects and experiences, which you can visit on GitHub pages.
The SANS Women’s Immersion Academy kicked off on Tuesday, June 21st, and I’ve been trying to download all the materials, get set up for labs, and plan for my study time as well as my practice exams. I must confess I didn’t have a lot of time to catch up with the cyber news this past week, and I’m not the type of person who likes to do rushed work. Hence why I decided to cut the news out of this issue.
Thinking in perspective, though, I also realize this isn’t a “one-off” situation: given the great deal of time commitment that the Academy will require of me over the next six months (three certifications in that time span,) and given that I’ll be doing that on top of a full-time job, I decided to put the newsletter on pause for a little while. I love writing these pieces and I really appreciate everyone’s amazing support, but I also want to be realistic in terms of what I can offer to you all and be mindful of the quality of what I publish.
My next six months will be dedicated to (hopefully) completing my transition to cybersecurity and I will need to commit any spare time to further training, learning, and working on projects that can showcase my skills – things that involve Assembly, malware analysis, and reverse engineering.
After completing GSEC and (hopefully) passing the exam, I will reassess my availability.
Though I couldn’t leave you all without at least a couple of nice resources, so I hope you enjoy it.?

Special of the Week #1: All the Cheat Sheets You Will Ever Need, for Free
As I announced last week, I was offered a spot in the 10th cohort of the SANS Women’s Cyber Security Immersion Academy, a 100% scholarship-funded intensive training and certification program organized by the SANS Institute. As I mentioned, the Academy has kicked off on Tuesday, June 21st, with an introductory call, and the SANS Cyber Talent Team has already shared a number of amazing resources to study and prepare for the GIAC exams. One of them is a comprehensive list of freely available cheat sheets created by SANS.
There is everything you can dream of – from TCP/IP and general networking cheat sheets, to thematic ones (i.e. Windows Forensics, ICS Security, etc.), to highly specific, tool or language-related ones (oledump.py, Nmap, Powershell, and so much more).
Special of the Week #2: The DFIR Report
It’s been under my radar for a while, but I finally had some time to check it out: The DFIR Report publishes a number of excellent malware reports and analyses of the most popular malicious software, as well as IOCs for different beacons. The latest reports include anything from REvil to SEO poisoning with Gootloader, and their GitHub repository is full of goodness with YARA and Sigma rules.
If you’re interested in digital forensics and incident response, you should absolutely follow The DFIR report on Twitter.
That's all for now. Thank you for following wannaCYbeR (security) and supporting me in amazing ways. Farewell, for now. Until next time!
