The Akshaya Patra Foundation Akshaya Patra is the world's largest NGO-run midday meal program that addresses two of the most immediate challenges facing India, hunger and education, through its school lunch program. ? The promise of meals in schools would ensure that children will seek and continue an education, instead of turning to labor. Akshaya Patra serves mid-day-meals to over 1.4 million children and envisions feeding 5 million children every day by 2020.
Akshaya Patra is continuously leveraging technology to cater to millions of children. Its state-of-the-art kitchens have become a subject of study and they spark curiosity among many enthusiasts from around the world. In partnership with the Government of India and various State Governments, and inestimable support from many businesses, philanthropic donors and well-wishers; we have grown from our humble beginnings in the year 2000, serving just 1500 children across 5 schools. Today Akshaya Patra is the world’s largest (not-for-profit run) mid-day meal program serving wholesome food to over 1.4 million children from 10,661 schools across 10 states in India.
What you can do:
Either you can initiate and organize an event at a Government school where Akshaya Patra provides meals or you can be part of an event that is organised by the organisation. When the organizations conducts activities and events, you can spread our message in your own way. You could write about your experience while volunteering with us, or visit our kitchens and promote our cause. After all, the smallest efforts can bring the biggest smiles. Or you can do a monetary donation to feed children covered under the feeding scheme.

- Do write about your contributions so you inspire others. Doing charity is great. Enabling and ensuring it reaches the needy is greater. Do share the good word.
- Many may not have access to basic things like collection centers, Local representation, Local events and so on. Have a look at local charity events and talk about causes you follow. Collect the charity and pass it on.
