Our biggest HALT Summit to date saw more than 400 expert teachers from across Australia come together in person and online to discuss issues in education, improve their practice and enhance their expertise.

This is at a time when Australia’s education ministers are rightly focused on recognising the role of expertise pathways to retaining our best and most capable educators.?

Each year, AITSL holds a free event exclusively for nationally certified teachers to collaborate with leading thinkers and continue to build on and share their expertise.

AITSL CEO Mark Grant said, “The 2023 HALT Summit is an incredible opportunity to bring together educators from across the country to share their knowledge and experience. Certification as a Highly Accomplished or Lead teacher is a significant achievement for teachers and can lead to opportunities for career advancement, professional growth, and recognition of their high-quality teaching practices.”

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been transforming various industries in recent years, and education is no exception. AI is a field of computer science that seeks to create machines that can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence. It has the potential to revolutionise the way we teach and learn, making education more personalised and effective.

In this month’s CEO Blog, Mark Grant shares his perspective on AI’s role in education.

“It is important that our students know when and how to acknowledge the use of AI tools, and for them to have the necessary evaluative and research skills to be able to interrogate, judge and critically reflect on the information generated.”

Be a voice for generations #NRW2023

National Reconciliation Week ?is held each year from 27 May to 3 June. The 2023 theme is ‘Be a Voice for Generations.’

It’s a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The Standards make clear the responsibility of teachers to meet the learning needs and aspirations of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, and indeed all students. Teachers must critically understand, continually develop, and effectively exercise their cultural responsiveness across the breadth of their practice. This is important both to teach Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and teach all students about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages, history, and culture.
