If you are a content producer embracing the world of AI, especially in video, be warned! There are pitfalls down the path - and they could cost you a LOT of money!
“AI might seem like the answer to a prayer for small businesses and content creators,” says MELANIE PERRY, who runs her own business POPPY PERRY MEDIA.? “I realise the advantages of using AI in content creation, but urge others to do their research and find out exactly what they are getting into before they start.”
For example, it’s certainly cheaper to use AI voices than hiring a human voiceover artist,?but what happens when the AI provider ‘retires’ that voice with no warning??

Melanie is an industry specialist in video marketing, and says the top complaint she’s hearing these days is from producers with large projects on the go – who suddenly have to stop production because the AI voices they’ve been using are no longer available!
YUP!??AI companies will just summarily take away or ‘retire’ voices without warning! ?
This obviously has a major impact on projects, especially when a client has approved voices pre-production.? However, it also has an impact on your bottom line. ?When chunks of your content suddenly disappear, you need to spend extra time and money to find replacements.
“One producer I know had his animated series disrupted,” says Melanie, “because suddenly five of his characters no longer had voices!? FIVE!? Just let that sink in....”
Melanie’s advice is?to be very, very careful when considering using AI in your projects. ?Check out the different service providers, and ask what their policies are about changing or retiring?artwork, music, or vocals. ?And be aware that there will be copyright issues and licensing fees as the technology progresses.? ??
“AI might not be the ‘cheap fix’ producers and content creators think it is,” says Melanie. ?“It can be great to refine systems and processes to power up productivity, but using it in the creative space could get you in all sorts of trouble down the line.”
So, read the small print.? Ask your AI provider questions.? And if you are producing a big project that relies on consistency of voice, play it safe and hire a REAL voiceover artist!?

The Horsham Short Film Festival will be held at the Everyman Cinema in Horsham, West Sussex at the end of August.?

ISAAC Is Off To Paris!
A member of the CR38IVES networking group will soon be heading off to Paris?- but he'll be travelling from the UK to France in a rather challenging way... ?
Video Producer & Editor ISAAC HARVEY MBE was born with a disability called Limb Pelvic Hypo Aplasia, which manifested in no arms and short legs.? Even with this disability, it has not stopped him using his feet and toes to edit videos, and nor has it stopped him from living life to the full.? He’s gone on numerous adventures - skiing, skating, skydiving, and even tall ship sailing!?
Isaac?is the proud president of?Wheels and Wheelchairs, a unique club based in London which brings roller-skaters and wheelchair-users together to share in the sensory rush of speed through accessible sport and thrilling outdoor adventures.
Later this month, Isaac will be embarking on what may be his most ambitious adventure yet – a 200-kilometre?skate from Brighton to Paris for the opening of the Paralympics!
“This journey will push my physical limits as a wheelchair user like never before,” says Isaac. “Just an hour in my chair can bring significant pain, so imagine marathon-length days of it.”
But despite the pain from prolonged sitting Isaac will experience, he's committed to pushing through every kilometre to Paris!??Isaac and his roller-skating team will set off from Brighton on the 24th?of August, and aim to arrive in the French capital on the 28th.
