As Paul Bischoff noted, "some voters might choose not to vote if they know they’re being watched." It remains to be seen if any surveillance of voters will actually occur, but if so, facial recognition is still fairly easy to thwart with face masks. A post-Covid world has made that form of personal privacy much more acceptable to use in public. A 2023 YouGov/Yahoo poll found 73 percent of Americans are ok seeing others wearing masks in public, likely much higher than pre-Covid. Consequently, that means masks wearing can easily be used for privacy instead of health reasons with much less worry of negative social consequences. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/only-12-percent-of-americans-wear-mask-in-public-194019882.html
